Another of President Trump's nominees to the San Francisco-based 9th Circuit Court of Appeals cleared a key procedural hurdle in the Senate on Monday, as the White House continues its push to transform the key left-leaning appellate court that the president repeatedly has derided as hopelessly biased and "disgraceful."
By a 77-20 vote, the Senate invoked cloture to end debate on Trump's nomination of Arizona-based Magistrate Judge Bridget Bade, a former clerk to conservative 5th Circuit Judge Edith Jones. Bade is slated to replace Bill Clinton-nominated Judge Barry Silverman, who has been on senior status since late 2016 -- effectively judicial semi-retirement. ... With its lack of fireworks, Bade's confirmation process has stood in stark contrast to that of Seattle attorney Eric Miller, who was confirmed to the 9th Circuit last month in a 53-46 vote. In a historic snub, the White House ignored the input of the judge's two Democratic home-state senators in picking Miller, whom progressives attacked as a corporate lawyer and Federalist Society member whose career supposedly had been hostile to Native American rights.

As best as I can understand, the Supremes live a somewhat cloistered life and just like the politician that has never been in a Walmart nor swiped a card, the judges have no clue how to act normally.
That is baffling. There must be something else to it. most likely, Trump and his team did not do their homework well enough.
Bennett has a long history of involvement with the Republican Party of Hawaii, including serving as the Partys counsel in 2001-02.[11] Bennett also volunteered on Lingles gubernatorial campaigns in 2002 and 2006, as well as supporting Republican James Aionas gubernatorial campaign in 2010.[12] Bennett also supported Lingle in her 2012 Senate bid against Hirono.[13]
Additionally, Bennett has also been a generous donor to the Republican Party of Hawaii, donating almost $5000 over the years, including $400 in October 2017, after his name had been proposed for a federal judgeship but before the formal vetting process had begun.[14] Bennett has also donated to support Lingle, former U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte and Hawaii State Legislator Cynthia Thielen, all Republicans.[15] On the flip side, Bennett financially supported Rep. Colleen Hanabusa (a Democrat) in her primary challenge to Schatz in 2014.[16]

DJT has some room to make an impact at the district court level as well.
Ninth Circuit district courts are authorized 112 judgeships. There are 24 vacancies with 2 future vacancies announced. The duration of the vacancies ranges from 1,686 days to 10 days. The president has made six nominations.
Thanks for your detailed Comment.
I did some more digging on Bennett.
Apparently, all the GOP Senators voted against him for the same reason....
Second Amendment issues.
By the way - Bennett was the Hawaii Attorney General for 8 years.
Very little good seems to come from Hawaii politically speaking. Thanks for the insights.
Bennett opposed the “Citizens United” campaign finance case.
And, Bennett was the first Attorney General in the country to support Same Sex Marriage.
Also, it's clear from public comments made by Hawaii's two Democrat Senators that Bennett was “Blue Slipped” and the White House Counsel's office agreed to nominate him.
Trump's Hawaii District Court nominee Jill Otake was also Blue Slipped and was confirmed by a voice vote.
Daniel P. Collins who will replace Pregerson Kenneth Lee who will replace Reinhart (who is dead)
“All 27 NO votes were Republicans.
How the heck did that happen?”
All Democrats are liberals, but not all Republicans are Conservatives.
Frankly Im a little troubled that she was not more fiercely opposed by the Democrats. When Trump fills all the Vacancies onnthe 9th Circuit it still wont bring it into balance. There will still be 3 more Democrat appointees but 16-13 looks a whole lot better than the wildly Leftist bent the 9th has had ever since Jimmy Crater got to appoint 10 hard Left judges to it in the late 70s when the 9th Circuit was expanded.
I would love to see the 9th circuit broken up into two or even 3 districts and several more judges THAT TRUMP GETS TO NOMINATE added.
The judges I’ve met had a God Syndrome worse than doctors (and I worked at a courthouse, so I’ve met a few).
Frankly Im a little troubled that she was not more fiercely opposed by the Democrats.

Im putting that down to her being a little bit of an unknown factor. I prefer appointees who end up confirmed pretty much on a party line vote like Trumps first two Judges confirmed to the 9th Circuit Appeals Court.
Yesterdays vote was procedural. It will be interesting to see how todays actual confirmation vote comes out.

Since this ruling came down our city is now sprouting Tobacco Road tents in our local parks and on greenway belts. Soon we will look like San Francisco if it keeps up.
Sadly, no Western state to run to as long as the 9th circuit court props up inane socialist policies.
No thanks - I already had breakfast.
Yer killin me!
She was confirmed 78 - 21 earlier this afternoon. Hope for the best.
