Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.) announced on Monday that he will not seek reelection in 2020, leaving the Senate seat he has held since 2009 up for grabs.
“I’m confident that we could run a strong campaign next year to earn a third term, because of all the work you and I have done together, along with my wife, Jill, and my incredibly dedicated staff," Udall said in a statement.
“But the worst thing anyone in public office can do is believe the office belongs to them, rather than to the people they represent. That’s why I’m announcing today that I won’t be seeking re-election next year.”

Susana Martinez was judged by the Cato Institute as the most fiscally responsible governor for 2016-2018 of all 50 states. Unfortunately NM is a high-crime third-world thankless backwater of gibmedats. She was NM’s Trump in a way and was rewarded with roadblocks at practically every turn.
And not sure what ‘personal life’ problems you allude to. She is now employed as an education reform consultant in Florida.
NM voted in a bunch of rabid barking moonbats the last election. My guess is that Udall can’t deal with their sharp left turn.
NM is also going gun-grabber, which doesn’t represent the will of the population.
Can’t disagree that she was beat on by the legislature, and it took its toll. Caring for her siblings was difficult too.
I like my corner of the state, but we’ve got our share of promlems.

She’s had to care for her older sister for many years, who has cerebal palsy and is retarded. Her brother passed from ALS not too long ago.

Gary placed 3rd in his senate try in 2018, and even if his votes were added to the Republican candidate, it was still 10% short of that beady eyed carpetbagger Heinrich who doesn’t even live in the state until campaign time.
