Mueller Probe's End Kicks Off Disclosure Fight With Democrats
Yahoo News ^ | 23 Mar 19 | Steven T. Dennis and Billy House

Whatever Attorney General William Barr discloses about Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, Democrats in Congress are certain to demand much more.

Mueller submitted his final report to Barr late Friday, and the attorney general vowed “as much transparency as possible.” Barr said he could report to Congress on the probe’s principal conclusions “as soon as this weekend.”

The decision on providing a fuller disclosure of Mueller’s work will come later.

“I intend to consult with Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein and Special Counsel Mueller to determine what other information from the report can be released to Congress and the public consistent with the law, including the Special Counsel regulations, and the Department’s long-standing practices and policies,” Barr said in his letter to Congress. Rod Rosenstein was the Justice Department official who appointed Mueller nearly two years ago to investigate allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Democrats immediately began calling for not only the full report from the special counsel, but also the underlying documents used to reach his conclusion.

The central question is how much Barr will release about President Donald Trump, who Democrats worry could be protected by a pair of Justice Department policies that existed before the Mueller inquiry.

One longstanding legal opinion says a president can’t be indicted while in office. A separate policy, endorsed by Barr, generally precludes U.S. prosecutors from releasing derogatory information about a person who doesn’t face criminal charges. The two policies combined could keep the public in the dark about Trump’s actions, although Barr has said he wouldn’t cover up crimes.

If Barr withholds some of Mueller’s report about Trump and then refuses a congressional subpoena, the fight -- and those DOJ policies -- could ultimately be tested in U.S. Supreme....

This is the real battle now folks.

Mueller ran cover and distraction for the Deep State to protect the real criminals in Washington DC (including himself over Uranium 1).

He, his pet snake Andrew Weissmann, and other "19 Angry Democrats" on Mueller's team couldn't find any real crimes or "collusion", but they sure threw a lot of mud.

The Democrats only hope now is for the "raw" report - which contains all of Mueller's fantasies and manufactured boogie men against President Trump.

“The president must be subject to accountability, and if the Justice Department is unable to do so, then the need to provide Congress with the relevant information is paramount,” six Democratic House chairmen said in a joint statement. “If the special counsel has reason to believe that the president has engaged in criminal or other serious misconduct, then the Justice Department has an obligation not to conceal such information.”

We should all be prepared - the above mantra is ALL we are going to hear for the next few days and weeks.

Understand this,

As Schumer and Pelosi DEMAND that Barr release the entire Mueller report, they know damn well that there are parts of the report that can not be released.

They have set the stage for the leftard conspiracy nuts to continue the narrative.

“The congress must be subject to accountability, and if the Justice Department is unable to do so, then the need for a special prosecutor to investigate Congresses role in this is paramount,” One patriotic American said in a statement. “If the special counsel has reason to believe that members of congress have engaged in criminal or other serious misconduct, then the Justice Department has an obligation not to conceal such information.”

Fixed it.

The setup to make the false claim the dirt in the redacted sections. The reason for the redactions will have nothing to do with the subject of the investigation.

The DemonShits are going to get a lot ore than they want when they get the full report. Mueller is in the same position as the St. Louis Co., MO prosecutor was when he decided not to prosecute the police officer who killed Michael Brown and was forced to defend his basis for that prosecutorial decision, in the course of which defense he had to prove, and proved, that Brown was a wannabe murderer who got what he deserved. Similarly, Mueller is going to have to show why there was no real case for further proceeding against PDJT and, in effect, become PDJT’s defense counsel. For example, he’ll have to show how innocuous the allegedly “infamous” Trump Tower meeting actually was.

I’m betting it will be a laundry list of “We looked into X, conducted Y interviews, but found nothing”.

More of an accounting than anything, no details because his job was not to write a novel but to determine if there was criminal wrongdoing. You get a ticket if you are caught speeding, you don’t get anything if you are scanned with a radar gun and found to be driving under the speed limit.

Bingo. This is what Rachael Maddow was literally in tears saying last night. She got the memo.

What Trump should do is inform all affected departments that the report will be released with no redactions in 30 days and they have that long to protect any at risk people and procedures.

Agreed.

The one thing that still troubles me about the entire deep state hoax is the complete lack of whistle blowers.

I understand that most, if not all these people have signed non-disclosure agreements etc. However, there must be dozens of people with detailed inside knowledge of this hoax. People like Comey, Ohr, McCabe etc don’t conduct their daily activities alone. They all have multiple support staff.

Where are they?

What “disclosure fight”??? What a load of horse crap setup to have an imaginary conflict.

Congress unanimously — along with the president — all said the report should be released to the public.

Again, there’s no there, there.

What could possibly be of a "national security" interest to redact? I wish POTUS releases everything including FISA.

Grand Jury testimony is something that should not be released. It’s completely one sided, the prosecutors side, and isn’t a fair representation of events.

There may also be a number of investigation techniques that should also be considered.

Give the Dems what they’re asking for, FULL disclosure of EVERYTHING. Let the public know what has really transpired. Let US decide for ourselves. I’m so sick of these people.

They should release every bit of it that they can. It will just enrage Democrats all over again.

I don’t think they will be able to intimidate or cow Barr to do their bidding...watched his “vetting” hearings and he obviously had disdain for the idiot Dems and their general one-track stupidity...didn’t even try to conceal it.
