“Who did he hurt?”
I once had a friend who was in charge of the “illicit” activities in Houston. We discussed prostitution, massage parlors, strip joints, breast bars and the like. I asked him if the two adults consent to things, who is hurt?
His response was that he asked me if I had ever been in a house of ill repute, a massage parlor or otherwise places of ill repute; I replied that I had not been in any of those kinds of places.
He said that houses of ill repute, massage parlors and all such places are the dirtiest places on the planet. His examples were, dirty, wet towels, dirty, wet beds, etcetera, and that every disease know to man resides in such places. I was disgusted by his response but had to agree with him.
Many, many cities have these types of businesses. It is very healthy. They are clean and well kept inside. You are correct about the types of places of ill repute you describe but that is not the kind of place he was in.
Your statement is ambiguous. Was your friend a policeman, in charge of the Vice Squad, and hence in charge of combatting illicit activities? Or was he the criminal overlord of prostitution?
