The National Rifle Association has been told to "bugger off" from meddling in New Zealand's affairs as the country undertakes gun law reform in the wake of the attacks on two mosques, which left 50 people dead.
Former Police Minister Judith Collins, of the center right National Party, described how she had tried to introduce stricter gun laws in New Zealand but was met with opposition from the countrys gun industry and lobbyist groups.
Collins said she and other members of parliament received large amounts of material that appeared to have been sourced from the NRA.
"They talked about how we were trying to take away their Second Amendment rights to own guns. We don't have a right to bear arms. To own a gun in New Zealand is absolutely a privilege and not a right. When I met with these lobbyists they spoke the language of the NRA," she told the The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.
She added that she still received similar material but now just deletes it. Firstly, I am no longer the police minister, so I dont have to read them. But also I know what my position is, and it is not going to change. We have lost 50 people, Collins said.
The NRA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced that all military style semi-automatic guns and assault rifles would be banned in the country after the terror attacks in Christchurch. The move was praised by many, including U.S. Democrats who have called for gun law reforms in their own country.
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York wrote while tweeting a link to Arderns announcement: Sandy Hook happened 6 years ago and we cant even get the Senate to hold a vote on

Rights be damned - I do what I want!
Ok...when the chi-coms show up remember those words.
Listening to an opposing idea is akin to dripping acid on the brain for a leftist.
Collins said she and other members of parliament received large amounts of material that appeared to have been sourced from the NRA.
So, did the NRA actually show up in NZ? Or did gun rights advocates use some of its material? Big difference, lady. But, she will soon begin to feel the consequences of such misguided ideas, as her country is invaded. They have opened the gates to massive, muslim immigration to NZ. They will not be able to turn anyone away. And pretty soon, that island will be lost. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!
When the Red Chinese come over and stomp your asses...just tell them to ‘bugger off’. That’ll teach ‘em and repulse them.
Adios NZ. Glad I didnt move there when I was considering it. The muzzies are gonna love your sheep.
Her new Musloid overlords will shut her piehold with a burkha and a hijab soon enough.
It is a right everywhere.
NZ just does not recognize it, instead denies it to the people of NZ.
I’ll bet she put on one of those hijabs though.
Well let’s bugger off then, leave them to suffer their own fate. What happens in NZ isn’t going to change what happens here where gun ownership absolutely IS a right. To hell with NZ.
Oh, demonize the NRA. There’s an idea.
Its a shame they don’t have a mindset to resist.
Protests, resistance, denying Islamic policy in their government.
The brain doesn’t feel pain. You could go Hannibal Lector on them and they wouldn’t notice.
Welcome to the children of allah.
Curses upon those who defend and protect their own.
Is New Zealand now run by Ovaries?
I haven’t seen the news media so thrilled with gun bans since Ferdinand Marcos of the Philippines ordered registration and confiscation of guns back in the 1970s.
Then when Marcos seized power, the news media were so stunned they couldn’t believe that they did not see this coming as the rest of us did.
Already the Prime Minister of New Zealand is showing such dictatorial powers in publicly stating what guns now WILL be banned, with no input from the public.
NZ is just a Clinton Cult Country...nothing more.
I wonder what she has to say about the story now coming out that alleges that the perp got his firearms licence through using a couple of online chatroom acquaintances as references and also that the police failed to conduct a personal interview at home as required by New Zealand law?
And I also wonder if any police officers down there have told her that they are far more likely to see sawed off rifles or shotguns or knives or other weapons used in the commission of a violent offence as opposed to a “military style” semi auto?
From what I understand big money people are investing in nz...we’ll see how that goes
