WASHINGTON (AP) — It’s a witch hunt, a vendetta, the worst presidential harassment in history.
That’s what President Donald Trump has shouted for two years about the special counsel’s Russia probe. Now, barring an eleventh-hour surprise, Trump and his allies are starting to see it as something potentially very different: a political opportunity.
With Robert Mueller’s findings expected any day, the president has grown increasingly confident the report will produce what he insisted all along — no clear evidence of a conspiracy between Russia and his 2016 campaign. And Trump and his advisers are considering how to weaponize those possible findings for the 2020 race, according to current and former White House officials and presidential confidants who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations.
A change is underway as well among congressional Democrats, who have long believed the report would offer damning evidence against the president. The Democrats are busy building new avenues for evidence to come out, opening a broad array of investigations of Trump’s White House and businesses that go far beyond Mueller’s focus on Russian interference to help Trump beat Democrat Hillary Clinton.
It’s a striking role reversal.
No one knows exactly what Mueller will say, but Trump, his allies and members of Congress are trying to map out the post-probe political dynamics. Elaine Kamarck, of the Brookings Institution says "we're pretty much at the end of this process" as she discussed the next steps in the special prosecutros Russia probe.

It can be BOTH a witch hunt vendetta AND produce no useful evidence for the ‘Rats and RINOs. The two are not mutually exclusive possibilities.
TWO YEARS of US govt and media attentions have been squandered on all this #FakeNews.
If/when the Mueller SC fizzles into the big nothing that it is, that does not mean that it was not a demented witch hunt or that it ever should have been allowed to take over our national life.
What Muller did not do, but has become obvious is that the FBI, Intelligence community, DOJ, AND the UK intelligence community spied upon the Trump campaign, ran a sting operation against the Trump campaign and the colluded with the UK intelligence community to frame Trump so they could spy upon him and his associates. Then they tried to stage a coup to over-through the President.
This illegal activity on the part of the Deep State is the real crime that needs to be investigated and it goes to the heart of the vorrupt and criminal Obama Administration.
It’s starting to sound like the title of that old French play:
“Waiting For Godot”. Two characters meet and have a chat while waiting for the same person named Monsieur Godot.

I'm starting to suspect that Mueller's end game is to drag this thing out until October 2020. From what I understand, the earliest Mueller will conclude his witch hunt is June 2019. But it was already supposed to have been concluded on several previous dates, dates which have come and gone. The longer they can drag this out, then more damage they hope to do to President Trump.
The irony is that the deplorables don't care what's in Mueller's report. President Trump could have stood in the middle of Wall Street and shot someone, and I wouldn't care. The only folks who care about Mueller's report are those who already hate the President.
