I noticed the one with that Joanna Gaines and a similar one (HGTV?) on fixing houses was on at my one doctor’s office and one hospital area where I waited for my wife to recover from cataract surgery twice last year. Not political.
Talk about a captive audience. Hate to sit there or pace around, or leaf through dopey magazines but can’t really leave far in case your loved one finally ready to come out. TV has motion and sound so everyone has to look up at it. I almost always carry the Book of Psalms for those times.
Smartphones have given the captive audiences a portable escape - in the same way computers and smart TVs in general gave the home audiences an escape. I probably watch more YouTube on the TV than any regular programming; there is an incredible amount of information out there, with far more viewpoints than the “mainstream” media offers.
