The nonprofit think tank founded by Bernie Sanders wife and son is closing after criticisms over its donations. The Vermont-based Institute is suspending all operations by May so there could not even be an appearance of impropriety his wife explained. ....the most important thing is to not accept donations. Nobody should think giving money gains access or favor to anybody running for office.
Jane and her son, David Driscoll, founded the Sanders Institute in 2017 claiming that it would "research and promote liberal policies." Instead, people have accused them of selling their loyalty to the rich and powerful. Bernie Sanders blasted Hillary in the 2016 election. It is obscene that Secy Clinton keeps going to big-money people to fund her campaign, he told CNN.
Driscoll reportedly got paid about $100,000 last year. They raised about $730,000 and another $459,000 in 2017. They Sanders family told AP that small donations came from about 10,000 donors. We havent disclosed names and amounts because weve relied mainly on small donor contributions from thousands of people, Driscoll said, and said the bulk come from donors that contribute less than $100.
Some of our biggest contributors were organizations that came on to partner with us for the Sanders Institute Gathering, such as National Nurses United, Healthy Housing Foundation and Our Revolution.
Jane Sanders told the NYT they didnt think about the Clinton or Trump foundation when deciding whether it was right to stop taking donations. We just thought, Im going to be very active [on the campaign trail], said Jane, 69. Its just too mushy it could become too mushy. We wanted to safeguard it. Brooklyn native Mrs Sanders maintained the move was a suspension, not a shutdown. The work will definitely come back, she said.

Spread the wealth. To me, mine and ours.
This is a lie. Everyone knows how the game of money and idiot children work. The French had had enough, and just plain stormed the Bastille. Heads really did roll.
Blatant bribery. If the intent was to avoid impropriety, simply comply with the law and make your donors public. But criminal intent and socialism walk hand in hand.
They should either release the names of donors to the political campaign to comply with the law of face criminal prosecution., not just walk away.
Dirty politicians..

The despicable rats have found a way through the creation of institutes and foundations to stash money with a “good intention, good cause” label on it until the light shines elsewhere. Reminds me of the off shore accounts several years back that got a lot of attention, with fat head ted and others. The rats are using their political offices as money generating machines for their personnel use and to amass riches not gotten on a salary. Foundations should be open for the public viewing
Went is Bernie Sanders’ son named David Driscoll?
The sanders family should also give 70% of their assets to the less fortunate. In the name of Democratic Socialism of course.
Now, now, Bernie, she needed those big donors to be able to afford buying you a $600,000 lakeshore house to bribe you to drop out of the 2016 presidential race.
so there could not even be an appearance of impropriety his wife explained”
Says the woman who bankrupted a liberal arts college so developers could get their hands on the last piece of valuable waterfront property on the lake?
Whatever happened to that investigation? Crickets.
He’s her son from a previous marriage.
Jane Sanders also falsified bank loan applications.
Are you kidding? The Clintons PERFECTED it.

What a piker! I knew Bern wasn’t presidential material.
Fold the foundation at the first sign of trouble? Whistleblowers/investigators still breathing?
Hillary’s laughing her ass off.
I agree !
Judicial Watch is the only organization with competent litigators with investigative background;
doing what journalism used to do.
It wasn't all that long ago that Jane Sanders was embroiled in a scam,
when she received a "Golden Parachute" from the college in Vermont where she was President,
and yet buried it under massive debt.
I believe that Jane also hired other family members to be on the faculty prior too the college's demise.
You can bet the shut down was a desperate ploy to hide bigger crimes.
and Our Revolution.
Thats an organization worth looking into.
