This “Me-too” proofs Pence, given his position as a Christian lightning rod. Many ministers do the same as a matter of prudence and remaining transparently scandal free. This doesn’t mean every single man in every single situation has to follow that rule. But in many situations it is wise.

Absolutely, and it boggles the mind that someone like Harris would try to belittle VP Pence on this issue.

IIRC, Billy Graham followed this exact same policy and there was never a breath of scandal about him that I ever heard of.

It’s a wise policy and, as others have noted, Harris is the last person who should be criticizing it.

It pains me to admit it but women DO lie. I had an occupational health job a few years ago. Every so often we had a physician who came into the workplace to see employees with particular complaints. I made it a policy to not only be in the room when he would examine a female employee, I would position myself so that I could see his hands.

I didn’t distrust the doctor. I have several instances of female employees going to the union, and then to HR, with complaints about his doing or saying something inappropriate. I had to answer to my boss in HR each and every time. I was believed because of my personal and professional reputation. My boss knew I’d sign a legal affadavit if need be.

I finally got tired of it, however, and had a chat with a union guy I had good rapport with. I asked him to take a message back to the union: if employees continued to claim that the doctor did or said inappropriate things to them, IN MY PRESENCE, I would regard that as a defamation of my character. I asked, did he know what that meant? He did indeed and agreed with me that the ridiculousness needed to stop. He took the message back to the union and it did stop.

My policy never changed.
