It’s my understanding that it’s basically unheard of for law abiding Brits to own firearms today.Once the same become true for knives I guess the next crisis in Britain will be cricket bat crime.
Just so stupid. So imagine that there is some world where every type of blade can be outlawed or tracked... which is absurd on its face because a blade can be fashioned from any strip of metal... but barring that, you can walk outside your house a few steps, grab a stick from a tree and sharpen it to a point on the pavement. Possible more deadly than a knife and certainly easier to obtain. Free (taxpayer subsidized) stabbing instrument.
scissors are the second choice currently. Followed by baseball bats, tire irons and pry bars.

They cracked down on collapsible batons in 2011, and the sale of baseball bats soared by 5000%. Surprisingly, sales of balls and gloves didn’t show a similar increase.
Not entirely true, but they certainly can't be used for self defense. Plinking is allowed.
