Yeah, Trump isn’t impressing me on the lawyers that he’s choosing to advise him on all this. I’m against declaring a national emergency because the budgeting process didn’t go your way. What Pres. Trump should’ve done is declare the border a Drug Corridor and gotten funding that way. Trump needs to get a few lawyers that have a clue how the govt. works, he needs to send his real estate lawyers to greener pastures for awhile. It was obvious from the get-go that this thing was never going to pass, there’s way too many Repubs that vote on the white-guilt side on this kind of stuff. This was all disappointing but predictable.

This was all disappointing but predictable.

This wasn't "predictable," this was the called play.

We all knew when Trump signed the spending bill that ended the partial government shutdown, that this was going to be how the endgame played out.

What is "disappointing" in hindsight is that Trump should have not signed the spending bill and kept the government shut down a little bit longer. That would have put the ball back in Congress' court, and the heat would have been on Pelosi and McConnell once again.

That's why McConnell begged Trump to sign the bill, and that's why McConnell promised Trump that Senate support for his emergency order would be there if he signed the bill. That's why this is a betrayal of McConnell by his own caucus and not a betrayal of Trump, because it was always known that this was the eventual end.

McConnell's caucus didn't have to let it get this far, but they did. And it's McConnell who has lost all credibility, not Trump.

Make no mistake, Schumer is going to pwn McConnell now because of this.
