At a campaign event in Keokuk, Iowa on the morning he officially announced his run for the Democratic presidential nomination, former Rep. Beto O'Rourke strongly endorsed the Green New Deal, saying: "Not to be dramatic, but literally, the future of the world depends on us right now here where we are."
"This is the final chance," O'Rourke said. "The scientists are unanimous on this. We have no more than 12 years to take incredibly bold action on this crisis."

Of course the future of the world depends on us. Some among us WANT a future, while others want to foreclose on EVER having a future.
The Green New Deal is a watermelon, just another attempt to call something “green”, while concealing the Red that is inside it. No matter how many times it is rebooted and attempted, socialism has never succeeded beyond a very short time - about the time all the gains built up through capitalism have been completely squandered and dispersed to no positive effect. Oh, for a few years, there is a lot to be “distributed”, but then, tearing down a modern manufacturing facility, and handing out the bricks and the various parts of the assembly line to each individual ends up with not much of anything to use for building anything NEW, unless all these little parts are again confiscated from whom they had just been distributed, at gunpoint if necessary, and a ministry is set up to operate the reconstructed industrial complex. But because the economics is based on command and not a reliable market demand, the enterprise, without a valid reason to even exist, is doomed to again fail.
