Maybe I have the wrong impression of Ann. But I believe she's taken on the role of nudging Trump further to conservatism (or sticking to conservative principles he campaigned on) by fussing about him. The left does this a lot. There were always people fussing that Obama wasn't liberal enough -- in an attempt to keep him leaning left.

Like she did with Lyin’ Ryan and Mitt Romney? Yeah, I don’t think so. She is trying to sell books & get speaking fees. That is all. If she really cared about the wall she would be supporting Trump’s flanks while he engaged the uniparty. But that doesn’t get her rubber chicken circuit appearances to hobbyist conservatives. Does it?
