The U.S. Senate voted by a 54-45 margin on Tuesday to confirm Paul Matey to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. With Mateys confirmation, the Third Circuit shifts to a 7-6 majority of Republican appointees, making it the first court of appeals in the nation to see its composition switch under Trump, who has been clear on his goal to remake the federal judiciary with conservative judges. Trump previously appointed Stephanos Bibas and David Porter to the 14-member court of appeals.
On Monday, after a vote to close debate on the Matey nomination was split on party lines, Sen. Robert Menendez, D-New Jersey, sharply criticized Republicans for advancing Mateys nomination without the consent of the two home-state senators.
From the beginning of the Union controversy over the Supreme Court and its rulings have roiled the Nation (mainly over how to handle slavery.)
No ruling has ever split the country like Taney’s Dred Scott decision and it made it clear that civil war was unavoidable.
Jefferson got into such a snit with Cousin John Marshall’s Court that he refused to call it into session for over a year.
America’s governments have been based on “politics” good, bad or otherwise. We need to change the political atmosphere and stop the Left’s Campaign of Hatred.
Hadn't heard that... that's great news!! Flipping the 9th Circus would -- next to flipping the SCOTUS -- be Trump's greatest accomplishment.
True, but Repubs also appointed Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, William Rehnquist and Brett Kavanaugh.
“Ninth Circus got tied”
Sorry, I was corrected on that. I repeated something I read elsewhere, without checking. It is still the most skewed to the Left.
Sorry again.
I generally like to keep it clean, but Menendez can shove it up his fat @$$. I despise that crooked POS.
Thank you President Trump
