This is a 737-900 which is a 737 Next Gen.
It is not the same model as the 737 MAX which is the newer series to replace 737NG.
That won't matter to kneejerk reactors.
The 737 has a remarkable safety record.

Is this the bird with the engine backlog? Or is that the MAX? Boeing cutting corners?
And the NG is the most common commercial jet flying. Not to be flippant, but stuff happens. The aircraft has redundant systems and hopefully a well trained crew. In this case, contingencies worked, and everyone landed safely.
Connection to the other incidence is probably non-existent, and is only a timing coincidence.
My son and I are pilots (me private him commercial). We were discussing this last night. He thought the NG 737’s were crashing due to inexperience (200 hrs flight time). I thought it was the new engine design....Carbon fiber and lighter-—not good in my opinion for longevity.
