Yep. Why would a cop risk his life if he could face prosecution for doing his job? Putting the Freddie Gray cops on trial was a big mistake.

Agree, and it’s VERY SIMPLE regarding Baltimore. The cops there were treated like crap because they were the problem in the eyes of the people and their elected leaders. So the cops said fine, we’ll step back and get out of the way and your wonderful city can show the world we’re not needed.
And now we’re seeing the result.
Who is "the community"? To a large degree, they are the parents, siblings, cousins, etc of the thugs. They don't want their precious darlings killed, they only want the police to (somehow) get them to stop fighting each other.
But they are fine with their precious thugs robbing and killing people OUTSIDE the community. And therein lies the problem.
