If you're 16 in this country, you can drive, get a job and pay taxes even marry or buy a gun, in some states. But you can't vote in national elections.
Massachusetts Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley is trying to change that.
The freshman lawmaker introduced her first amendment in Congress Tuesday. It's a proposal to lower the national voting age from 18 to 16.
Pressley's amendment is being added to a sweeping, election-reform bill in the House of Representatives. That bill is in the hands of the House Rules Committee, chaired by Massachusetts Congressman Jim McGovern.
And in Boston, city councilors introduced their own measure Wednesday which would lower the voting age...

I want a package deal. They get their majority at 16.
They can buy guns and alcohol and tobacco.
Child support ends at 16.
Age of consent is 16.
They don’t have to be covered by their parent’s health insurance.
The whole deal or no vote, and I prefer no vote.

Whats up in Taxachusetts? Not enough illegal aliens to keep the bloodsucking commies in office?

Nobody can buy a gun at 16.
The age is 18 for long guns and 21 for handguns.

We all know why.
If young folks were leaning conservative, this would never happen.
Same with allowing illegals (excuse me, undocumented immigrant/refugees) to vote.

many 16 year olds dont drive by choice. They let others drive them everywhere. Driving costs money and has risks. The schools would become polling places.

I had to wait till I was 21 to vote. It should be moved back to that age, except for military members. They were the reason it was moved to 18.

Why not at age 4... Where you know what you want... Hot dogs and Mac & Cheese, with absolutely no concept or care about eating what’s better for you.

If it were up to me, young voters would have to show their high school diploma written in English to be eligible to vote.

At my age, I’d be in favor of raising the voting age to 35.
Oh well wishful thinking.

This year, 2019, marks the first year that half of the children 18 and under will be minorities as classified by the USG. Each future cohort that turns 18 annually will be more minority than the previous one. And now, for the first time ever, there are fewer white than nonwhite children under 10 years of age. Minorities vote more than two to one Dem.
Is it any wonder why the Dems want to give the vote to 16 year olds?

So the Wild In The Streets kid was mature enough? No, and that was the point of the movie. When special interests throw their weight at something they desire, they can often achieve it - even if it is unwise.
The end of the flick shows 10 year olds boasting how they'll overthrow the oldsters now that they have gotten the vote.

Of course I wasn’t mature enough to drink. But that didn’t stop me from getting sloshed. Experience matured me in time. Fortunately, I didn’t have a driver’s license.

Why not allow all kids to vote? Kids under five, and kids in the womb can have their moms vote for them by proxy.
Bet the abortuaries’ business will dry up a few months before voting day, then be overwhelmed with business the day after.

I was wondering which state(s) allowed that.
None that I can think of.
While it was 5 decades ago, I got my first checking account when I was 14.
First check I ever wrote was to a gun shop for a Winchester 1200. Still have that cancelled check in my files.
And still have that gun in my safe.

Not even an air gun or a BB gun? In every state? Even Texas and Alaska?
