Don’t give a rip either way but pick a time and stick to it.

I believe DST was created when we were a more agrecultural culture. It gave more daylight time to work in the fields. Now, with only a fraction of the populace involved in that sort of work, and with LED lighting on tractors, they can work all night, so the time on the clock is irrelevant. There is a lot of farming where I live and I see a lot of that happening now. It’s a completely different world.

So Yeah, I don’t care what they stick with (it will probably be standard time), but just stick with something.

I agree and I find driving in the dark a little difficult.

"OK, why did we start this daylight savings time thing, and does the reason still exist?" All I remember from school is something about Benjamin Franklin and farmers. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’ll take either, as long as we stick to one.

But, regarding those polls. I wonder if “eliminating standard time” was a choice, or was it “eliminate DST or keep it?”?

I am less concerned about kids being killed during the dark morning hours than I am them being kidnapped or assaulted. You may your personal reasons for loving the later daylight hours, but it doesn’t fit for a lot of others.

I HATE Daylight Savings Time and I tweeted my opinion to the President.

I love that extra hour in the morning and I don’t like seeing the sun shining bright at 8:00 PM.

Besides, standard time is God’s time and He do what He was doing when He made it that way.

I can’t recall the last morning fatality. ;)

And the fact is that there is a difference between morning and afternoon commutes that has nothing to do with darkness. Quite a bit, actually. That is but one aspect that is sometimes different.

Time zones, at least, help the locality keep their “normal” hours in sync with the natural body rhythm.

“Besides, standard time is God’s time and He do what He was doing when He made it that way.”

That’s a bit of a stretch.

Yep. It’s no longer needed. Especially with few working the fields now, and when they do work it, they can work all night thanks to really cheap LED lighting. I live in farm country. The equipment can be running ridiculously late nowadays thanks to LED lighting on all the farm equipment and trucks. They surround themselves with “daylight”.

Personally I make great use of that extra hour of daylight after work. I would really miss it.

Enough talk, just do it. But the politicians are worthless.

I remember Nixon doing this in 1974. I was in sixth grade that year. We went to school in the dark. I actually liked the novelty of it. Also, having that hour of extra daylight at the end of the day was nice.

Below is a photo of kids standing at the bus stop back in 1974. Of course, the media wanted to show glum schoolkids waiting for the school bus - which is not that hard to do actually, in darkness or in daylight!

It’s not a stretch at all.

There have been reports that have shown that people are more healthier under standard time.

Any time, we get away from God’s original design, we foul something up.

Reverse psychology! It would probably work, just as it often does with children.
