I worked for the American division of an Israeli company. Most of the top positions where staffed by Israeli/American citizens. They were wealthy, smart and extremely liberal. They all had substantial connections to academia; some of them at high levels and with big name universities. I attended a lot of parties and the subject was always politics. (I felt like a Republican chew toy as they always sought me out to complain about GWB and how stupid he was.)

Here’s my takeaway. They were liberals first and foremost and Jews second. I suspect the majority of them will vote Democrat even if the Democrats advocate policies that, if adopted, would mean the end of the state of Israel. Yes, that is crazy. But they seemed so liberal that they were disconnected from the reality of everything else.

There are secular Jews IN Israel that are US-type leftists, if you can believe it, that are facilitating the destruction of Israel, at least by promoting muslims in that country. Now how stupid is THAT!?

If you challenge the Liberal Jews on the dangers they face at the hands of the increasingly Muslim-inspired Democrat Socialists, they will respond with, “Yes, but they know we are one of them and they won’t inflict their plans on us!”

Just like the Jews in Germany, with their valises in hand, shuffling onto the train boxcars, repeating that this was just an oversight, and would be corrected at the next stop!

Similarly, I don’t see a great affinity for Israel among Jewish professionals aged say 50 or younger.

Except for the small percentage that are already conservative.

I guess if you step back from it and think about it....in their successful world, which is largely intact, they can get away with thinking about Israel not at all. What does Israel matter to them?

Nothing. Nothing at all.

I agree with you. What I have found with liberal Jewish friends is that they are sometimes lethally ignorant about what is going on with their political party. When forced to face ugly facts, they will simply dodge the subject. You sometimes wonder how smart they are if they can’t see for the forest for the trees...

You nailed it...and not just Jews...feminists, environmentalists, race baiters and the entire left...their first issue is liberalism.
