In early August, 33-year-old Ilhan Omar became an overnight sensation in Minnesota politics. Her primary victory over 22-term incumbent Phyllis Kahn secured the Minnesota Democratic Farmer Labor Party (DFL) endorsement of Omar’s candidacy to represent House District 60B in the state legislature. Minneapolis’s Star Tribune trumpeted Omar’s victory in a huge headline on its front page, proclaiming that the Somali immigrant’s victory had “made history.” The paper followed up with two more retrospective stories admiring Omar’s triumph.

Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Democrat from Minnesota, a Muslim and a newcomer to Congress, already is causing controversy, with a series of anti-Semitic comments, her defense of al-Qaida, her explosions at reporters and her alignment with an extreme left faction in the Democratic Party. She’s already the target of a petition demanding her resignation.

Now, the Department of Homeland Security is being urged to investigate her and begin deportation or other removal proceedings. The petition was submitted to DHS by former Justice Department prosecutor Larry Klayman, who this week added a demand that the House of Representatives “investigate, consider and take remedial action” on the issue.

The latest controversy was explained by Siraj Hashmi in a commentary in the Washington Examiner. Hashmi said the Democrats face “a political crisis” with a handful of new lawmakers having drawn “the ire from both sides about their position on the U.S.’s relationship with Israel.” Omar, along with fellow Muslim Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., were criticized for “remarks about Israel that were rooted in anti-Semitism.”

As an elected Minnesota state Representative, Democrat Ilhan Omar, has campaigned with Minnesota AG candidate Keith Ellison (Democrat-Muslim-MINN). Omar is the Democratic nominee for the federal House seat, MN CD-5, that Ellison is vacating. She is the assumed favorite to win the seat.

The allegations stem from Omar’s 2009 marriage to British citizen Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, her apparent brother. Below, exclusive new evidence backs the claim that this marriage was fraudulent. Also, this new evidence suggests that student loan fraud and immigration fraud were Omar’s motivations for marrying Mr. Elmi.

Power Line reported: A reader has written us to point out that the Somali website Somalispot posted information last week suggesting Omar’s involvement in marriage and immigration fraud. The post notes that Omar married Ahmed Hirsi in 2002. Hirsi is the father of Omar’s three children. Omar is depicted with Hirsi and their children on Omar’s campaign website here.

The post further notes that Omar married her brother Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009, implying that the latter marriage assisted his entry into the United States. The Intel community does review the backgrounds of Congressional members on the Intel committees and can ask that they be removed quietly from the committee if anything negative turns up. Otherwise, members of Congress go unvetted.

The population in MN-5 is about 710,000. Not even 10% is Somali. Minneapolis and the overwhelmingly white near western suburbs hated America before Omar came along.
