Unless you have been imitating Rip Van Winkle, you are aware that a member of Congress together with a member of the U.S. Senate proposed a comprehensive alteration to our economy based around changing our energy sources to minimize harm to our planet. One author, Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, stated that if you dont like her plan then come up with your own. Well, here you go. This is mine.
The Green New Deal delves into many areas other than energy sources, but the heart of it is confronting what is commonly referred to as Climate Change. Some believe if we do not change how we live then we are looking at a catastrophe.
Here are my proposals to stem that potential calamity:
1. Lets start with ending private airplane flight. Can you think of a greater waste of energy? Everybody who flies on their own jet can fly commercial. The worst are people like Al Gore flying on energy-wasting jets. Banning people like Gore or Michael Bloomberg from private jet use will erase any temptation they have that makes them look duplicitous. Everyone will be better off.
2. We need to scour the country for every waterway that we can dam to create hydroelectric power. There are an estimated 84,000 dams, but there is no doubt many can be improved with modern technology. With new technology and more new dams, we could generate enormous new energy sources that we will have forever or until it stops raining.
3. We need to adopt a law requiring that thermostats not be able to be set higher than 65 degrees when heating or below 77 degrees when cooling. We have had to do this in our home because we live in California. California has made laws that require all sources of energy be from renewable sources. The goal is 50% of all energy from renewables and 100% by 2045. This has soared the cost of energy in California to 50% higher than the rest of the nation. We are being crushed by these costs. Our only path is to learn to live with our homes colder in winter. We adjusted; we believe everyone else can as well.
4. Sales of electric cars are not going well. The only solution is to have the government give the cars away. If the government were to give away something like 500,000 electric vehicles, then we would spur production and familiarize Americans with EVs. This plan will catapult EVs into being the primary cars produced. We can hold a lottery. Just think how many people would participate in that and the level of interest that would create. Just think of how much interest was created in an Oprah Winfrey show when she was giving away free things including cars. This would be that on steroids.
5. We are putting solar panels on everybodys roofs; why not put small windmills attached to everyones house? They would be an excellent counterbalance to when there is no sun and still self-generate energy. I am sure we could develop smaller models of windmills that attach to the side of a house or apartment that could capture all the wind energy we are losing out on currently.
6. Brace yourself for this one. We all need to give up our smart phones. Not only are they divisive and addicting, but highly-energy consuming. Everyone is always running around looking for a plug for their phone. No one ever talks about the huge energy production that is related to hundreds of millions of cell phones always churning energy consumption. It seems on its face an odd proposal, but I am willing to do it. I think that the leaders of the climate change movement should voluntarily step forward and sacrifice their own phones as a sign of commitment to the cause. After all, if we dont do something we are going to all lose them anyway.
7. We only have 99 nuclear reactors. We need to triple that number in the next 20 years. Nuclear power is extremely effective, a reasonable cost and clean. The fact that we have only 99 reactors currently in place is anti-science. The same people who clamor about the issue of climate change caused the delay of full implementation of nuclear energy. As opposed to some of their proposals, this technology is readily available and becomes more efficient all the time. Building these reactors would also be a huge stimulus to the economy. We currently provide energy to an estimated 60 million homes from nuclear; tripling that would be a huge reduction of dirty energy sources and a win for saving the environment.
These ideas put in place would make a major move toward reducing greenhouse gases and saving the planet while being the least invasive in our lives. So I say to AOC, what do you think of that? I am now the Boss.
Socialism is for the people not the socialist, they will use all we enjoy today making the sacrifice for us, we will make a sacrifice to the planet by giving up all that is evil, white and racist.
6. Brace yourself for this one. We all need to give up our smart phones.
Why don’t we give up our televisions and motion picture houses? Think of how much money and energy those things use! Not to mention the resources and energy used to produce the product. And mostly they just promulgate filth and disinformation. And most of the private jet customers are way overpaid actors anyway.
Next sports and the sports areas. And finally all music.
We can then become a Muslim paradise! (End Sarc)
Methinks one simple rule with cause the simpletons in congress (but I repeat myself) to stand down.
EVERYONE, as in “you b*stards do it too” will comply with all climate change joke rules.
No limosines.
Everyone owns just one model of car, a Yugo-like electric POS with a range of 30 miles (because no one should need to travel farther than that).
No private air travel.
No air conditioning for anyone, not even congresscritter *sswipes.
Water supply limited to 10 gallons/day/person.
If it’s medicare for all, even the low-IQ never had a job c-critters also go on medicare.
No private insurance for them either.
And on and on.
They would blink, because as we all know, all animals are equal but pigs are more equal than others.
We need to ban dieting. Weight is lost in the form of CO2 and H2O. Fatties sequester CO2 and, thus, are helping to save the planet - who knew?
My green deal
1) Cutting taxes puts more green into my pocket.
I like my house warm in the winter so forget #4. I spent a lot of money super insulating this place and use 1/2 the fuel of some houses. The moral of the story here is to insulate everyone’s home properly.
Even if we did all those things china will still be producing 93% of the pollution so what good would it do?
2. We need to scour the country for every waterway that we can dam to create hydroelectric power; some sacrifices will have to be made here for your own good as we will no longer have any fresh water fish or spawning salmon.
3. We need to adopt a law requiring that thermostats not be able to be set higher than 65 degrees when heating or below 77 degrees when cooling, since the draconian public punishments will be daunting - to say nothing of the exorbitant fines.
4. Sales of electric cars are not going well. The only solution is to have the government give the cars away. Therefore the workers must pretend to work so the government can pretend to pay them. Work will set you free ...
5. We are putting solar panels on everybodys roofs so roofers will have plenty of work repairing the holes and other damage that roof solar panel create.
6. Brace yourself for this one. We all need to give up our smart phones because too much communication is not a good thing, distracting from the work of the state. You will be able to call anyone on the list you provide (after our approval) once a week at the community (commune) phone center - there will be a lottery to ensure fairness - all proceeds go to the state.
They must go first, for at least a 10-year experiment period.
It’s just science.
Ditto with Congress, only more so (20 years minimum, even after they leave).
Bruce, place the bong on the table and just back away.
1) Destroy General Aviation.
A$$hole. There are NO commercial flights from my home airport to ranches in eastern MT. A lot of those folks have small aircraft to fly to town, meet with an attorney and load up on foodstuffs. It’s a eight hour drive or more each way...
GA is a VERY necessary part of the US economy.
Like VTenigma stated:
Bruce, place the bong on the table and just back away.
I was surprised @AOC was down in Texas this weekend.
Didn’t realize the electric powered high speed trains went that far west from DC.
“I like my house warm in the winter so forget #4. I spent a lot of money super insulating this place and use 1/2 the fuel of some houses. The moral of the story here is to insulate everyones home properly.”
Amen, brudder!
We have a very well insulated home...if it’s -20 F outside and the sun is out we hit 80 F in the afternoon due to our southern exposure and well placed windows. we use 1/4 of the propane our neighbors use. In the summer when the sun is high our long overhangs cut the solar gain and we use air conditioning only a few days each year.
Our insulation(actually SIP’s) cost a boatload when we built this home in the late 90’s. It’s more than paid for itself.
<:-)
Dear GOD, we need help !
The queers and the enemy are a strong force to resist against and it is ALL fomented by PUBLIC SCHOOLS ... that do not actually TEACH to retain, American history
America had better wake up !
Two less than educated, muzzie freshman representatives are already the camels' nose in.
as pointed out in THIS VIDEO , Almost Occasionally Conscious is very professionally scripted and she is really, really good at delivering her lines.
AND
ALL of this adds up to a very well executed plot to take over the America every drop of blood shed in every war has ever paid for.
Aoc, tlaib and omar have bonded together to get Congress to drop the headgear ban JUST FOR THE TWO MUZZIE enemies the tratorous Americans actually voted in.
THIS SHIT IS DANGEROUS !
“Why dont we give up our televisions and motion picture houses?”
And once we do that people will then have that much more time for work!
Everyone owns just one model of car, a Yugo-like electric POS with a range of 30 miles (because no one should need to travel farther than that).”””
YOU have NEVER been in the Midwest or the Western parts of the USA, have you?
I have to drive 25 miles ONE way to buy groceries, and I know there are many longer distances for others in my state.
I suggest you start in Sacramento & drive to New York City, across I-80.
But here are some of my more serious observations on the Green New Deal.
First, the GND is not "green". It's red. As in the socialist revolution. Marxist take-over of the country.
Second, the GND is not "new". It's the same old hoax the democRATS have been pushing for decades with little success. Global cooling, global warming, climate crisis, climate change, climate disruption, etc. They change the name of the "issue" to avoid detection, just like bad debtor avoids the bill collector, trying to stay one step ahead of the law, or in this case, a more and more knowledgeable public.
And finally, the GND is not a "deal". It is a dictate. It is government mandated, controlled and instituted against the wishes of the population. It's such a good "deal", the government has to force you to follow it.
So here is my idea for the Green New Deal: Trash it. Push back. Make fun of it. Ignore it. Don't comply.
Because none of this is about climate change. It is about destroying the fossil-fuel based capitalist economic system and replacing it with a government-based socialist/communist system.
If you are still skeptical that the GND is a hoax, tell me how "providing a living wage to those who are unwilling to work" has anything to do with climate change but everything to do with socialism. I'm waiting...
I believe in climate change and trying to solve it as much as I believe the Left's claim that their so-called gun control and "safety" laws are not about ridding us of the 2nd Amendment, disarming the public and confiscating our guns but about making the "kids" safe. Notice they also invoke the "kids" factor again when they say that we have to tackle the climate changing to save the planet for our kids' futures. They're both lies.
DemocRATS LIE and they are LYING about their Green New Deal. Remember, green on the outside but red on the inside.
I disagree with 3, 4, 5 and 6.
However, that being said, I think composting is really important and something that most people could easily do. The amount of topsoil and topsoil nutrients in our foods is nearing a crisis.
