a 1,945-mile energy park that would pay for itself, deploy sophisticated security to the sometimes dangerous area and turn a largely deserted area into an economic engine...The plan 'just released' would also build on the cooperative relations between Washington and Mexico City to have both countries build the energy wall.
Luciano Castillo, Purdue University's Kenninger Professor of Renewable Energy and Power Systems.... heads the effort authored by 28 engineers and scientists, several of whom are members of the National Academy of Engineering. The school, led by Purdue President Mitch Daniels, a former White House budget director, is running the project.
Essentially, the plan would string a train of energy panels, wind turbines, national gas pipelines along the border bookended by desalination plants, creating what the experts said would be a highly protected energy industrial park.
And because the facilities need to be protected, it would bring in tight security....Along with that, it would be an "economic driver, both in the construction of the facilities themselves and in the businesses that would be attracted to the region by cheap electricity," said the experts.

This is why we can’t have nice things.
I have an idea! We could install turnstiles at the Mexican border, have them hooked by a belt to a generator. The spinning turn styles from the non-stop flow of Mexicans will power us for decades!
Probably pie-in-the-sky stuff but interesting nonetheless.
Great idea, and use the fencing to conduct the generated electricity.
a comedian once proposed an idea, a string of prisons running the entire border on Mexico side, we send all our prisoners there for 2$ a day, border is secured, Mexicans have jobs, we save huge on prison costs, and have to imagine not too many inmates would want to go back,
Big ideas from big thinkers. This ought to be studied. Only stipulation is California not be allowed to do the study. They are still trying to build a railroad.

This is an interesting solution... and it puts ‘greenies’ on the spot ... The only drawback is the Chinese using Mexico as a debarking site for a future war... but that would be a problem no matter what was done on the border..
This is now....political nightmare....(On the Border, Out of the Shadows)
"a 1,945-mile energy park that would pay for itself,....."....another political ploy that leaves open borders....open borders. Life in these little shanty towns today, March 9, 2019 called Colonias are now lawless and very dangerous...staging grounds for crime.
BUILD THE WALL....THIS IS A PIPE DREAM!
We could get “the big dig” guys to build it! /s
"1,954-mile energy park would pay for border wall, create economic boom..." Open borders people are pushing their old plan under a new guise....no border no American Sovereignty i.e., NO NATION.
Even more power from turn styles when deported undocumented Democrats return to US. /sarc
Maybe used for sections of wall! Not all ....
What heck is that?
If by using the fencing, which should be entirely of steel, to conduct the generated electricity at a current sufficient to say short out/toast/roast anyone that tries to climb it then I would say that yes it's a great idea!
Yup. All you have to know it is from Paul bedard and the GOPe wash examiner. It is the proposal instead of a Wall. Illegals will still be able to cross. Notice the diagram of the drone.
Wash examiner is utter trash.

Natural gas is a naturally occurring hydrocarbon gas mixture consisting primarily
of methane, but commonly including varying amounts of other higher alkanes, and
sometimes a small percentage of carbon dioxide, nitrogen, hydrogen sulfide, or helium.
I believe they meant Natural Gas but who knows.
Sections of ‘Wall? ARE YOU Nuts?....this is just another ploy for OPEN BORDERS ....THE COLONIES ARE ENTRENCHED 60 MILE NORTH AND 60 MILE SOUTH ALONG THE BORDER ALSO THIS IS A NO MANS LAND,. LAWLESS...YOU GONNA CLEAN UP THIS MESS, PROVIDE WATER AND ELECTRICITY AS PROMISED, MOST OF THESE SHANTY TOWNS HAVE NONE AS PROMISED.....READ, RESEARCH, AND LEARN.
