I have had numerous dogs euthanized in my 76 yrs and pentobarbital was used for the lqst3 as far as I know and possibly for the others.

Each was euthanized at my home and the time between the injection and confirmation of death was about 30 seconds. My pet was first given a mild tranquilizer and after a minute or so she laid down. The drug was injected, she sort of sighed and in seconds it was over.

What exactly are the concerns about using this drug on humans?

I’ve always wondered the same thing.

Pentobarbital has been used for a long time. I worked as Vet Assistant one summer between my junior and senior years in high school in 1965, and that’s what we used.
