Changing of the Guard (Democrats Embrace Anti-Semitism) (ed)

Today marked a turning point of sorts. The House of Representatives voted 407-23 in favor of the Democrats’ revised, anodyne resolution condemning all forms of bigotry. As Scott has noted, Nancy Pelosi retreated to this meaningless resolution because many House Democrats weighed in to support Ilhan Omar’s anti-Semitism. Faced with a rebellion in the ranks, Pelosi backed down. She now denies that the resolution had anything to do with Omar. That is quite a change from the long-ago days (less than a month ago, actually) when Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer issued a statement saying, among other things, “Congresswoman Omar’s use of anti-Semitic tropes and prejudicial accusations about Israel’s supporters is deeply offensive.” The Democratic Party leadership’s climbdown is complete: today, as predicted, Omar voted for the resolution that began life as a censure of her anti-Semitism.

The tweets about Omar getting hugs and like in the House as the anodyne resolution was being voted on are disturbing. Labour in the UK has gone full anti-Semitic and now the Democrats have followed Labour's lead.

Democrats or Labour, makes no difference. The left is the same everywhere. As Omar would say: “It’s all about the Benjamins”. As in, the Benjamins being handed out by George Soros.

Obama castigated Israel and Netanyahu regularly. It was clear that he sympathized with the Palestinians and viewed them as an oppressed native people of color. In short he made anti Zionism an acceptable tenet for Democrats in good Party standing. Now there is a difference between anti Zionism and crude anti Semitism but the average anti Zionist does not make a careful differentiation. Try to imagine what would happen if pro Israel Democrats tried to insert a plank in their platform stating that America supports the existence of Israel as a Jewish state.

Fake news.
Democrats have always been virulently antisemitic.

The only change whatsoever is that the new wave of Democrats have returned to being open about it.

Robert Byrd would be so proud.

The Democrats have 235 seats. The 403 are those who voted for the resolution. So the vast majority of the GOP voted for this useless resolution.
