As I understand it, under Obama the AG had decided to let the case against him go. (I may be confusing players here, so don’t rely on the full accuracy of that...)
I am a firm believer in the “fruit of the poison tree” doctrine. If the government was using a fraudulent set of warrants to obtain information on the guy, then the government should not be rewarded for a crime, with a guilt verdict.
If he was found out fair and square, and his crimes did warrant his conviction and sentence, then you get what you deserve.
Of course many of the mind-numbed out there will be hooting and hollering about how a Trump-man was taken down, for doing something evil related to Trump. That is of course not the case.

Regardless of what he did in the years prior, we owe Manafort a debt of gratitude for POTUS.
Without him squaring off Trump’s wins in multiple states, he would have lost. Cruz was positioned to steal Trump delegates and prevail on the floor of the convention. Team Cruz had already corrupted Trump delegates from several states.
At the Republican Delegate Convention in Hollywood, Manafort was fighting 24/7 to ward off ‘Never Trumpers’ positioned to peel off our delegates. They were an aggressive lot that he dealt with, quite effectively.
Once Cruz was selected by the GOPe, he would have had his azz kicked by Hillary. All part of a plan that was originally destined for Jeb!
