Go to Rome and ask the military chiefs of the Roman Empire how all that diversity worked out for them.

It worked well as long as the non Latins served in legions or auxiliaries organized and as uniform components of the Imperial Army. These units and the terms of service necessitated a very significant level of Romanization and were generally commanded by career Roman soldiers. The disaster started with incorporating barbarian tribesmen en-mass into the army. These groups fought under their tribal leaders and fought as barbarians and not Romans. The US armed forces have since WW2 anyway been highly diverse as to the ethnicity of its members but not tribalized which is what the diversity mantra means. Instead of from the many comes one it has been flipped to my ethnic or sexual or whatever identity comes first. This general is just another brain dead pc type that have emerged since about 1990 and now are very common in the services.
