The reality is that Afghanistan is a 7th-century hellhole, that will never be brought into modernity. There is no point in trying. Better to just fence it off and let these savages destroy themselves.
I was in Afghanistan in 2007. I went there believing it was a worthwhile mission. I left believing it would take 100,000 troops, minimum, for 100 years to turn Afghanistan into a place fit for human habitation. It is the definition of why a neutron bomb is useful!
