Johnson family has owned a ranch and family farm for more than 100 years. It shares an 8-mile border with Mexico, most of which is made of barbed wire.
The family said that is not good enough, so it is inviting President Donald Trump to build a wall on the land.
The Johnsons said they have seen many high-speed chases between Border Patrol agents and people who have crossed the border illegally. They call them drive-thrus.
"They will have someone step on it and they will drive over it," Brandy Johnson said.
Of the 8 miles of border along their ranch, 3 miles are separated by barbed wire. The rest of the land has a vehicle barrier.
"The barbed wire is the weakest link in our portion of the border, so they exploit that, Russell Johnson said.
"When they want to get away, there is nothing in their way. They are going to blow through whatever it is, Brandy Johnson said.
Johnsons said they desperately want a wall because people cant drive through it.
"We would love nothing more than to see the fence built on our property, Russell Johnson said.
Republican Party Chairman Steve Pearce used to represent the Johnsons' district. He said many ranchers there rely on workers who come to the U.S. legally. He said criminals are making promises to families that they can get them over the border faster.
"If we could set up a guest worker system where they could come and work and go back and forth, the humanitarian crisis would cease, Pearce said.
For the Johnsons, the wall is a tangible solution to a decades-old problem.
"We have had this problem for years, decades. And right now, its purely a political game that we are paying the price for, Brandy Johnson said.

Good people. Wish I could live on that ranch as a caretaker and security person.
Note to self: Copy and paste that article far and wide.
With the current NM legislature, they’ll pass a bill or something to prevent that from happening. ;-)
I hope trump can take them up in their offer.

I’d ask to meet him, and to speak to whoever is doing the surveying, engineering, whatever to try to keep a lot of land.
That, and maybe a few bucks would be my just compensation. If it were me, enough to cover 2 guitars, LASIK and a new PC.

Which is it?
ochit needs to get right on this problem
The wife is the security person. These people have to deal with illegals AND the BP. The BP often cuts their fences rather than find a road.
She has cameras everywhere. About 6 months ago BP cut their fence so they called and asked them to come repair it, they refused. Wife just said okay, but you don’t mind if I call the news station with the video I have of your agents cutting it. They fixed the fence, haha.
This sounds like a good spot for those volunteer border funders to chip in.
I predict they are jailed by summer for some imaginary crime.
Usurper hussein isn't in office anymore.
I love it!
Very smart people at least they will be safe if the border is built on their land..They can probably sleep better at night..not having to worry about the cut throats killing them in their sleep.
Sadly not that unlikely.
Right is right and wrong is wrong no matter who does either. disappointing action by the BP.
I wonder if the deed to that land clearly shows the 60 foot EASEMENT Pres. Teddy Roosevelt established in 1907???
I would think that easement answers all the questions involved.
Nice...maybe their neighbors will have Trump build a wall on their land, too. Private property, so President Trump can.
Bttt.
