Well this makes me sad. Penney’s is the go-to for window treatments, though they’re otherwise no better than any other department store.

I’m partial to pretty things so I shop VS a lot, but they’re pricey. My mother mocks them without mercy. “Victorious Secretions, home of the fifty-dollar wedgie...I had to walk all the way to Bergdorf’s to blow money like that.”

Never been to a Gap, since I know they don’t stock my size zero. Not many places do. :(

Payless has a good selection and reasonable prices.

The last six months have made my wife an online buyer.

She tried to buy a couple of table lamps at our Pier 1, and they didn’t have but one. They spent about an hour trying to get the lamps shipped from another store. There was no sale price and we would have had to pay a service charge to get the lamps delivered to the local store not our home.

When we got home, I got on line to Pier 1 and got the two lamps she wanted, delivered free and my Vet discount and a 30% off.

We needed new block out curtains for our bedroom to block the moon light after we and our neighbor had 4 trees removed as possible fire hazard. The unblocked moon made our bed room as lit up as our family room with lights. Bed Bath and Beyond sent the new curtains in a couple of days with zero delivery costs and 25% off.

My wife has used Shalimar products since the Cuban Missile Crisis where I bought some at the Gitmo exchange. Since then the outside cost has gotten very high and the nearest store was in a going down the hill mall about 30 minutes away. I get the Shalimar products delivered for free at the military exchange, with free delivery and no sales tax and 40% off regular price.

Our small portable vacuum cleaner died. I bought a Dyson D7 cordless for a little over $200, free delivery and no sales tax from the exchange.

I needed some new brown wool winter dress slacks. Our Botany 500 closed last fall. I bought name brand Merino Wool pants on sale at half off from Amazon and spent $10 to have the length of the pants altered.

My wife prefers Talbot and Home Depot gift cards. I prefer Amazon gift cards.

Our small freezer was dying. We went to Home Depot and bought a$600 name brand freezer on line, delivered/installed for free, old one taken away and a 4 year guarantee. With my Vet discount, everything was 10% off. The HD sales rep went on line and did the ordering for us. The new freezer was delivered in 4 days. We had bought a refrig and a washer via the same sales rep with similar savings and great service.

A friend’s Dyson Vacuum died after 10 years. I told him how to go on line and buy one from Walmart. They carry products in their warehouses and you can pick them up at the store in a couple of hours after you order them. He got one that afternoon and saved over $100.

We needed some items from Costco and had them shipped for free with a $50 order. Costco will be shipping grocery orders on same day or next day with free delivery on $100 orders. Our Zip code will have this great/save your back service soon.

Triple AAA will sell you a new vehicle battery at a great price and install it in your driveway and haul away the old one.

In a year or less, most grocery stores will deliver for free to your home for $50 orders or free pickup at a stand outside the store.
