Narcissism and self importance is what drives Jonah Goldberg. It’s what drives Ben Shapiro, Michael Medved, Hugh Hewitt.
All Team NeverTrump, and all in love with their own imagined importance and their own opinions.
What they hate about Trump is that he has exposed them as being totally unimportant to what is likely the biggest political story in their puny lifetimes.
I agree. I think TDS infected much of the intellectual class which included the usual suspects of Bill Crystal, George Will and Charles Krauthammer. There are others who are exempt from it, e.g., Victor Davis Hason and Newt Gingrich. And these latter two have a certain modesty and wisdom about them. You know they are sincerely seeking the truth and not just spouting a clever theory that attempts to makes them shine. Yes, the Trump story is bigger than these people and they had plenty of time to come on board and be a positive part of it. I don’t know if the Trump phenomena will sustain itself after Trump is out of office. I think these people are betting things go back to the status quo again, where they will have the opportunity to gloat and promote their own importance.
