Benchmade aids Local Police, Helps Destroy Guns, Offends Customers

Benchmade assists Oregon City Police in the destruction of firearms

Second Amendment supporters on the Internet are incensed about Benchmade Knives helping their local police department, the Oregon City P.D., destroy guns the department had in their custody.

The Oregon City Police Department posted an image on their Facebook page, showing the Police Department destroying guns with Benchmade equipment.

The image was reposted on the Benchmade page, to show that Benchmade was helping the local police. This created the impression that Benchmade approved of the needless destruction of firearms.

When Benchmade started to receive criticism from Second Amendment supporters, they posted this statement from the police:

Benchmade Statement

The Oregon City PD Chief, Jim Band, and the City Mayor have since issued a more detailed statement.

Oregon City PD SatementOregon City PD Satement

In the second statement, the Police Chief and Mayor imply they have no choice but to destroy the firearms in their custody.

They never mention laws requiring the destruction of the guns turned in to them. They mention judges orders, which police are obligated to follow. But judges do not have authority to destroy guns that are not part of a crime adjudicated by the judge.

A clear policy is mentioned in the first statement Benchmade attributes to the PD:

“The Oregon City Police Department does not sell firearms.”

Most police departments in the United States do sell firearms. Several states have required police departments to do so, by law.

Benchmade is losing a lot of business over this. I doubt they expected the Oregon City Police to post pictures of the police cutting up guns and thanking Benchmade for their help.

It is not as if Benchmade made a political statement that destroying guns was good policy.

This shows the divide between red states and blue states. The Oregon City Police chief thought he was doing Benchmade a favor!

Benchmade is an unwavering supporter of both law enforcement and Second Amendment rights.

Or so they claim. I'm not convinced it's possible to be both.

They have the right to destroy weapons. I’ve no problem if someone turns one in and they destroy it, or the cops have ones that are required to be destroyed.

Will I be doing that? No never.

Understand. Oregon City is literally a suburb of Moscow on the Willamette. (IE Portland). Living in a Communist bubble, hiring local indoctrinated college graduates, I'll wager that the owners of Benchmark are still blinking their eyes at what just happened.

We could tell them that they just bent over for a Socialist a$$ramming, but, why spoil it? They can sell all their future production to Dick's Sporting goods.

If you want to know the true colors of Benchmade, just check out the political contributions of the de Asis family, owners of Benchmade.

Pretty close to 90% democratic.

Pretty stupid bunch, but typical of the dumbasses up in the NW Liberal Shit Hole of the United States.

And their knives are horrendously overpriced.

This news is making the rounds all over the gun boards. The issue is not necessarily confined to Benchmade destroying guns.

But this event has brought to light that Benchmade contributes much larger amounts of cash to antigun politicians than any other political group. This fact has come to light because of them helping to destroy guns.

Benchmade is an enemy of the 2nd Amendment, and did a supremely stupid thing by alienating a huge portion of their customer base.

The thing that this brought to light is that the CEO of Benchmade has been giving money to anti-gun politicians as well, so the gun destruction may have been a good thing in as far as shedding light on the fact that Benchmade IS NOT supporting the second amendment.

Nice! Though I’m not a tactical knife guy per se. My ‘tactical’ knife is a brass booster wood grip Buck folder. I could also strap on my dads Marine Raider knife(stiletto)or any number of fixed blade clip point Bowie style knives I had made up by a Czech Republic knife maker through a Czech born friend. With stag antler and brass grips and individualized sheaths.

Btw My ‘tactical’ rifle is an M1 Garand. Tactical carbine is an M1 carbine. I do have others but I like the old school look and feel.

After identifying your knife model number (551s) you can “name” your knife:

The input slot is long, so you needn’t confine yourself to just one word.

Why not get creative?

They don’t have a customer feedback option.

It is not as if Benchmade made a political statement that destroying guns was good policy.

The Benchmade/De Asis family's political contributions made all the political statements about guns I needed to see... and their "only Oregon politicians" BS evaporated instantly.

This house already has a cubic crapload of Mini Griptilians stashed in various places, but I bought a Spyderco folder last week merely to spite BM.

See if you can get your hands on a Fairbairn Pattern Three. Should be about 75 bucks. You won’t regret it and it matches with your M1.

"Buy Buck Knives."

I have a Buck knife or two, but I prefer the Schrade "Uncle Henry" brand. Of all the knives I have bought over the years, the UH were the only ones sharp enough to shave with "out of the box". All the rest had to be sharpened to that level.
