I’m guessing Kim wanted sanctions lifted before he does much of anything. Who knows.

Very good chance your “guess” is correct. Kim is attempting the latest version of the DPRK rope-a-dope, aimed at gaining sanctions relief while giving up almost nothing in return. Trump was wise to walk away. Previous administrations would have caved, promising Kim almost anything in return for vague assurances from Pyongyang.

Coming up next: a temper tantrum from KJU. Watch for a resumption of missile tests and perhaps a nuclear test later this year, if talks don’t resume. Trump should stay the course and prevent NK from trying to split the US-ROK alliance. President Moon wants a deal in the worst way and NK will tell Seoul they can forge ahead, without the US.

Reagan walked away from Gorbachev in Iceland almost 35 years ago. He was roundly criticized by the usual suspects but the wisdom of his decision was immediately apparent. History will render a similar verdict on Trump.

Call that a learned behavior, taught by those masters, Clinton, Bush & Obama.
