Trump Undermines Top Trade Adviser as He Pushes for China Deal
NYT ^ | 2/26/19 | Ana Swanson

President Trump has signaled that he is moving toward peace with China in a trade standoff that has rattled markets and businesses globally. But as he backs off his threat to impose higher tariffs, the president’s relationship with his own trade negotiator is now showing signs of strain.

The situation has left Mr. Trump’s trade representative, Robert Lighthizer, who is both an ardent supporter of the president and a longtime China critic, in an uncomfortable bind. While broad tariffs on Chinese imports brought Beijing to the negotiating table, Mr. Trump has grown impatient with the talks, and a consensus is growing in Washington that Mr. Trump will ultimately accept a weak deal.

Trump Undermines .... what a headline.

As I like Larry Kudlow on trade, I've been loosely following the trade talks with China.

Good Cop Bad Cop is the only way to describes the tag team approach of Trump to trade with China.

On Chicago PD the clean detective asked the "old school" sergeant why he was not informed. The sergeant replied that he needed to keep the clean detective clean.

Lamestream media desperately tries to spin forcing Chinese trade concessions as a bad thing.

Yep. The NY Slimes and the Washington ComPOST are both determined to blame Trump for these agreements.

NONE of Obama’s foreign policy agreements paid off, but the media didn’t seem to notice that.

I love how the usual “fake news” sources pile on while Trump is out of the country negotiating world peace.

Well, if the NY Times says so, it must be true.

Knowing that Trump is in Vietnam horse trading with Kim and anyone else who might listen in, how can we possibly believe he might contradict any of his trade reps.

Trump has got his "good friend" Xi and the Communist Party of China spinning like a top.

That's what he's good at.

Exactly, he and his team have been playing this perfectly. China’s giving signals of being very rattled by their economic losses right now.

NYTimes will do anything to smear Trump and his team

This article and the one in the Washington Post are preludes to the hit pieces which will be written no matter how good the deal with China eventually turns out to be for the United States.

When the deal is done, if the deal is done then they will print their stories saying in effect, I told you so, Trump doesn’t know what he’s doing.

The reality which any fool could see is that in the Chinese negotiations and with North Korea Trump has already gone far far past anything anyone else has done.

And that’s has been mentioned Trump will always have as long as he is president the tower of hammer to bring down on the Chinese should they violate any agreement he makes with them and I believe the Chinese are well aware of this.

I take issue with those that think that Trump must get the Chinese to reduce the trade deficit with us. While they can be made to purchase more of our goods we will always be purchasing more from them because we simply don’t have the manufacturing base to supply Americans with homemade goods.

With our economy being a strong as it is Americans are purchasing more than they ever have and it has to come from someplace and right now it’s coming from overseas and mostly from China. Until we can get our manufacturers to produce comprable products at reasonable prices we will continue to buy mainly from China.

What part about "DONALD TRUMP IS THE M*****F***ING PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES" does the New York Times not seem to understand?

Is it possible that the government shutdown actually gave consumers more confidence in the economy?

Is it possible that the shutdown woke some of us up to the fact that the government is a non-productive part of society and we are better off without so much non-productivity?

That’s a good thought. Kind of goes with todays’ news that more Democrats and millennials are sympathizing with the Pro-Life movement and are saying that abortion in the third trimester should be outlawed. The outlandish things done in NY and VA have woken people up.

We need sky high tariffs, across the board especially aimed a China. If don’t agree then you are globalist and not a nationalist (nor a patriot).

The best deal is no deal and 25% tariffs.

When I read “...the consensus in washington...” I laughed. These people are pathetic seditionists and anti-American losers. They have so screwed-up this country that they should be exiled for the rest of their worthless lives.
