If Colorado can exclude the Electoral College, then Colorado had damn well better keep convicted felons and undocumented migrants off the voter rolls.

The purpose of all this is to make sure that the illegals and felons can swing the election.

This nullifies the votes of the citizens of the state...

if the voters there don’t object to this then they get what they deserve.

The Colorado Legislature has unlimited discretion over how they appoint their Electors.

This is how “town” or “school” bullies operate. They know that the only way you can really stop them is to ramp it up and kill them. And since everyone is civilized, nobody will do that, so they have free reign.

This will get worse and worse until we end up, quite literally, like Venezuela or Nazi Germany. It is inevitable unless the civilized perform a quite uncivilized act. And since it is nationwide, it would not be a single act.

But that will not happen, which makes me happy that I am old. I will probably not live to see this come to its inevitable full fruition.

It will ramp up significantly when Trump leaves office, no matter who replaces him. Be it 2021 or 2025.

Colorado voters elected a Democrat Governor and a Democrat majority in the State legislature. This State is following the path of California.

But marijuana is legal. "Don't Worry. Be Happy."

It’s possible in the 2020 election, that Trump may take 30 to 35 states, with the Electoral vote, and the popular vote (with the idea that it’s Bernie in the competition), and no matter how the Colorado public vote....(for Bernie for example), the Electoral vote would shift to Trump and just increase the vote scale.

In this scenario....a lot of frustrated people would complain about how this was ‘rigged up’, and that your vote doesn’t mean anything.

Do they have unlimited discretion over the acceptance of the other states for their methods of participating in federalism?

The Colorado Legislature has unlimited discretion over how they appoint their Electors.

True, every State does. However, the Constitution mandates that they MUST have Electors.

Article II, Section I "Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector."

The entire point of disabling the Electoral College is to allow vote fraud in California, Illinois, and New York to determine who will be the President of the United States. That would be a Democrat for the remaining life of the country.

The votes of felons, illegal immigrants, dead people, and imaginary people are essential to make this work.

If Colorado wants to essentially forfeit its EV, that’s its right - but if I were a CO voter I’d certainly object to the self-disenfranchisement of the state.

At some point the Constitutional guarantee of a republican form of government comes into play. IMO California is already well over the line with how corrupt its elections are.

Same in Oregon..but I believe there is voter fraud...and our wonderful Sec of State, Dennis Richardson, (R) just died last night. He was the first R we elected to top level in years...

They have powers to how they ‘appoint’ but not how they vote, meet, time, place, certify. State legislatures may not pass ***legislation*** to change EC votes based on a national vote. They can make ‘pacts’ as non-binding agreements but state law cannot back such pacts.

The Constitution, Art. 2 Sec. 1, and the 12th Amendment are quite specific and detailed as to what, when, who, where, how when it comes to the EC. States have very little power through their legislatures by comparison.

I am sure this so-called progressive multi-state pact to get around the US Constitution will be challenged and defeated.

I don’t understand the line about keeping illegals off the voter role. If I understood, the Colorado legislature opted to give 100% of their electoral votes to the winner of the general election. Which is basically how California with it’s unknown quantities of illegal voters votes.

Colorado’s votes won’t be counted. It’s electoral votes that are counted. The citizens can sue for being disenfranchised by their government plus violation that the state is not a replublic guaranteed by the constitution.

The whole point of eliminating the Electoral College is to ensure the election of democrats to the White House. Once you understand that, everything else they advocate makes sense. No voter ID, automatic registration, etc. I have absolutely no doubt if the scheme to eliminate the EC were to ever work to elect a Republican over a democrat, blue-state legislatures would rapidly convene to change the law.

Don’t accept this unconstitutional nullification of the electoral college. The electoral college and the composition of the electorate are unrelated issues.

Can you imagine how incensed these leftists would be in CA and NY and IL if Trump won the popular vote and their EV’s were assigned to Trump?
