Actually, John W. Pinnell put Seattle on the map. He ran a string of brothels on the Barbary Coast of San Francisco in the 1870s and expanded his operations into Seattle when it was just a sawmill town. He quickly turned it into the Las Vegas of Puget Sound. It was the place for a lumberjack or sailor to have himself a good time at a reasonable price.

lumberjacks is an est coast word inappropriately applied to men who do not make lumber.
Logger is the correct word on the west coast because they make logs not lumber.
