Unless I see a real more in-depth article complete with full detailed military strategic analys rather than a goofy Facebook redirect blurp I’m calling fake news on this dead to rights and I say this as someone who can’t stand Neo-Soviet Russia.

Given the lack of world-news headlines that the Russian regular army has invaded the Ukraine, I presume “Russian-led” refers to Ukranian separatists of Russian ancestry.
I have a different view than most on this. The eastern part of Ukraine is majority ethnic Russian and they speak Russian. If you held a free and fair plebiscite there, I have no doubt they’d opt to join Russia. This didn’t matter when they were all in the Russian Empire and later Soviet Union, but it matters now that they are separate countries.
I’d say let those parts go. Let them join Russia if they want to. That would end the conflict AND as an added bonus Russia’s influence within Ukraine would be crippled. Ukraine would then be free to drift into the Western camp - which most want to do anyway.
