No it isn’t a private business. If a university, State, Municipality, or organization takes a PENNY of Federal cash, they are subject to ALL Federal regulations.
Youtube (google) was funded by the US Government at the beginning from the CIA venture capital tech group, and has numerous Federal contracts for all kinds of information services.
Additionally, YouTube/Google is free from content litigation because they are seen as an open medium, not as a publisher. If ISIS beheads your grandma, you cannot sue YouTube for leaving ISIS videos up. But in reality, they are a content publisher and should lose all that protected status.
So no sport, Google/YouTube is not a private company. They have their mouth firmly clamped to the government nipple. If the renounce all federal contracts, and give up status as an open medium, then they can ban whoever they want.
