Regarding using the word perverted to refer to, e.g., Easy Rider. Easy Rider wasn’t a pro-gay firm. It was a pro-hippie, pro-dope and pro-exploitation film. However, it did have a happy ending.

I only saw it once, first run at a theater. Was that a happy ending?
Bob Dylan refused to allow his name on the song “The Ballad of Easy Rider” which he allowed Roger McGuinn of the Byrds to take credit for. Bob Dylan wrote the first half of the song on a napkin at a restaurant and gave it to someone and said “Give this to Roger. He’ll know what to do.”
He said it was an unhappy ending because there was no return to kill the geeky killer as revenge. Without revenge Bob was infuriated and unsatisfied and backed out of the theme song chance.
