Apples and oranges there. Being betrayed by the behavior of some priests is hardly the same thing as a concerted effort by secular government to stamp out Christianity.
I could use the Apples and Oranges defense here too. Christianity is a set of beliefs. The Catholic Church just one among many institutions which espouses those beliefs. Christianity and the Catholic Church are not synonymous.
