Each congressional member is allocated money for their staff. However they choose to split it up is up to them.
Under the rules of Socialism, everyone in AOC’s office, including AOC herself, would get equal pay.
OR, everyone would get paid based on the Socialist formula of from each according to his abilities to each according to his needs.
The first alternative would be simple to implement. The second would result in every employee claiming to have greater financial needs than his/her co-workers, and be virtually unworkable.
In practice, the first alternative has never worked because some Socialists have always considered themselves to be more equal than others and have taken higher pay, leaving their comrades in poverty at best or starving to death a la Venezuela.
By refusing to take an equal salary to her staff, AOC would be joining the illustrious group of Socialist leaders she so admires, from Josef Stalin to Fidel Castro to Nicolas Maduro.
Is she cutting her own pay as part of this scheme

Remember the guy who decided to pay everybody in his company a baseline (high) wage, like minimum of $70K or something?
I recall the more skilled workers, IT and such, were not amused.
