The Boston Globe reports that 130 living bishops have been accused of covering up priestly sexual abuse of minors. No steps have been taken to discipline them. So far, all we have seen our episcopal leaders do is take measures to ensure that priest abusers who are not part of the episcopacy are reported to civil authorities, although The Boston Globe states that 50 living bishops have been accused of cover-up since the Dallas Charter of 2002. The hierarchy has done nothing to ensure that bishops accused of such are reported.
Laity are appalled that some cardinals and bishops tolerate priests who openly live a double life and who advance LGBT causes; indeed, some even promoted such priests to significant positions, Archbishop Theodore McCarrick himself being a prime example. Laity are outraged that Jesuit Father James Martin is permitted to visit diocese after diocese, misleading people about the Churchs teaching on sexuality.
Can we reasonably expect anything to happen at the February meeting in Rome that would be a step forward in dealing with the crisis? Sadly, the most likely outcome is that it will confirm what we already know: The hierarchy of the Church in its present configuration will resist solutions rather than seek them. Or perhaps worse? Could it be that some are trying to use the crisis to advance such causes as dropping the requirement for priestly celibacy?

As a Catholic, I am getting disgusted at the church leadership and direction the church is taking...ready to jump ship
Where would you jump to?
One of the other “rites”?
Here's an idea. How about become credible? How about stop diddling kids?
It's too late, this monster is too big to hold itself up any longer.
The church is an evil monster and it's not going to change. At some point you just have to humble yourself and admit you've been lied to the entire time.
The Church is the Body of Christ. I am the Church: that is, a member of the Body. Paul says "The foot can't say to the hand, I don't need you; the eye can't say to the ear, I don't need you?
The Church (to borrow even more Biblical language) is the Bride of Christ, Do you think you heal, teach, protect, , edify, improve the Church by leaving Her --- leaving Her bleeding in the jaws of the wolves?
When the Battle gets Hot --- the disciples run off? Is that the way it works?
Woe to the hirelings who turn tail and run when the wolves get into the sheepfold. You're not supposed to run, You're supposed to stand up and fight.
Tagline.
You'll have to admit the Church belongs to Christ the King, and there's a battle going on for His honor and His reign RIGHT NOW. He didn't say to go AWOL when the going gets tough.
Read a little Church history. I recommend it. Once the shock passes, it tends to sober you up.

"The whole course of Christianity from the first ... is but one series of troubles and disorders. Every century is like every other, and to those who live in it seems worse than all times before it. The Church is ever ailing ... Religion seems ever expiring, schisms dominant, the light of truth dim, its adherents scattered. The cause of Christ is ever in its last agony."-Blessed John Henry Newman, Via Media (1834)
"All times are dangerous times."- St. Teresa of Avila, Doctor of the Church (1515-1580)

You have got to be kidding me miss Cross Bearer and Steadfast Martyr. I can almost see the blood dripping down your forehead and down your cheek like a tear. What a joke. What the hell makes you think you have any idea what I ever thought of the Church? Tell yourself whatever you need to tell yourself to make you think you're a loyal Christian hero for standing by while OTHER kids get diddled (probably under warm blankets - there's your warm blanket) and you compliment yourself for bearing a cross and then quote the words of other men.
Give me a break. I know good people who stay in the church, but they don't simultaneously make excuses ("it's always been this way therefore it's super!") for it while at the same time virtue signaling to themselves and me that they are hero's bearing a cross.
Pitiful and deluded and weak. You condone kids getting played with and at the same time compliment yourself for bearing a weightless and imaginary cross while children bear the real cross, one made heavier by your passive hypnosis and your ridiculous straw manning of the thoughts of anyone who challenges you.
But hey, go seek out more great quotes about how it's 'always been this way' so it's A-OK.
For the record: I'm not your enemy, take it up with your conscious.
Also for the record: I was never part of your glorious and timeless kiddie porn front.
You don't need the kiddie-porn-bear-the-cross excuse drama to see and know God. I promise.
"Standing by"? That is the 180 degree contrary of what I have been calling out for. It is the opposite of "Stand and fight," which has been the command I am most unworthy to repeat, most dread to hear and most struggle to do.
I think you are responding from honest surging anger and pain. That's something I can take to heart, and which I accept.
Here's an analogy, and maybe you can clear up where it's wrong.
Let's say there is a hospital, and they keep sending perfectly healthy kids there. And kids die left and right while they are there, and have been dying there left and right for hundreds of years. And let's say that hospital has been involved in corruption since the beginning of time. And let's say there are a few employees who are fighting to rid the hospital of either the bacteria or the murderous doctors (whatevers been killing the kids) that are killing all the children, but so far, absolutely zero progress, and those who own the hospital are making money hand over fist.
It's basically not a hospital, but a gas chamber for kids.
At what point do you say "I SAVE MORE KIDS, DO MORE GOOD, if I tear down this hospital, i.e. leave and let it go bankrupt".
The only good I see out of your fight is that in Christianity it is seen as good to struggle against evil. But you're not the one suffering the evil, so you seem to elevate your struggle to being more important than what continues and continues and continues to go on and on and on and on.
MEN AND WOMEN could stop this. So far, some have tried to do so by FIGHTING. They have failed almost laughably, except it's not laughable, because every further minute they fail, more kids get molested.
If you want to be a hero to yourselves, or get to see yourselves as 'good Christian warriors,' keep fighting. But that's all about you and your ego, not about the kids.
If you want to end this incessant destruction of life, tear down the hospital and the good employees can go build a new one. During that time, other good Christians I am very very sure will carry what water the Catholic church may still be carrying for the world.
What I am missing? What I am saying is that the only people served by your continued fight are those who get to say 'I am a fighter!' I say "well how much more time do you think you need, because at the moment the only people I can see benefitting from your so called 'stand and fight' is your self images and self conceptions, when you have in your power to end the molesting.
Summary: You seem more concerned with your story and self image, in which you get to think of yourself as a fighter and hero, but you don't seem to notice that your (royal 'you', i.e. those of you who claim to be 'fighting') ... you don't seem to acknowledge that you have been pathetically ineffective at accomplishing anything, and as you fail and fail and fail to get any results, each day, more kids, each a precious and holy little unit of life, gets violated and in many case corrupted by evil.
So you seem more enamored by the dramatic epic tale of good vs evil, where you get to cast yourself as good, rather than "hey, how can I make sure more kids don't get diddled tomorrow."
I was never abused in this way, was never part of the church. I am not in great pain. You bet I'm angry, and I'm getting almost as angry at the so called fighters (are you still a fighter if you accomplish nothing?)
I do believe it's time the church was taken down by legal authorities just like any other RICO style organization. It's not fixing itself, and innocent people's lives are getting destroyed. It's time to end it. I respect your efforts to clean it up, but the cost al allowing it to continue is real and is a pervert training farm. Members' psychological temptation to cast themselves as fighters in an epic tale of good vs evil is just that ... a psychological temptation.
So how do you justify continuing to only do what you call 'stand and fight' when there is an alternative that would end what you are fighting? Doesn't your standing and fighting prop up the very evil you tell yourself you are fighting? Are you not then complicit?
At what point do you actually start caring more about these kids, and less about your inner drama as a Catholic?
I say save the kids and burn down this RICO crime family. Then the good people caught up in the RICO scam can rebuild a new, pure organization. Until then, both you and the kids are basically caught up in a Stockholm drama.
The grown ups could end it, but they choose not to. The kids can't end it, and they are the only ones suffering.
3 sets of people: Abusers, Members, Victims.
Abusers = not going to change anything.
Victims = can't change anything
Members = failing and have failed to change anything.
So I ask you: when WILL it change? It won't, it can't, it's a system locked into its own cycle. And every day it doesn't .... more kids get diddled.
Haven't you ever heard the old saying 'what you resist, persists'. Sometimes the fighters are a required not for the destruction of a corrupt cyclic system, but for its continuation.
I'm suggesting you are a required part of an autoimmune disease on earth.
I am also suggesting that you too are suffering needlessly, that God does not give one wit about the earthly physical icons men use to represent Him. I am suggestion that the Catholic church is one big earthly icon, that mankind is habitually given to mistake the icon for the thing the icon points to, that you are making that mistake. That if you saw your mistake, then you would begin seeing actual God rather than mistaking an icon for God.
I also recognize that you could say I have no place saying that, or that it is not my business, or that certainly I am the one who is arrogant here, and in that case we would disagree. But I wouldn't say that lightly if I were you, just as I'm not saying it lightly. What's at stake is most importantly is the souls of the kids (who become grown ups), and your soul, and mine. It's not that 'we will be judged', the verdict is instant and absolute.
