Depends on the caliber.
My bolt action is a Savage 30-06. I use Fusion 165-grain skived-tip boat tails. Muzzle Velocity = 2790 FPS @ 2850 FT LBS energy. At 100 yards, the bullet is traveling at 2590 FPS, with 2460 FT LBS energy. At 300 yards, it’s 2400 FPS and 2110 FT LBS. I have the weapon zeroed in at 100 yards; and, with my scope set at 1 1/2” above the bore line, the trajectory is -13” at 300 yards.
