In my rural area the local university started a medical school and rents have skyrocketed. When my wife and I got married in the early 90s we paid $295 a month for 2 bedroom duplex apartment. That same apartment goes from $700-$1000 a month rent now. Apartment prices are skewed because of the rental property owners jacking rent on the medical students.
The section 8 HUD renters are furious and having to go to public projects. But those renters willing to look and have good reputations and references are finding 2 bedroom apartments in $400-$500 range. And prices are starting to go down after a decade because people are building apartments to rent like crazy. The free market at work. Leftist never learn. Educated fools...
