Max, what an excellent example of history repeating itself! The Fall of Rome film clip showing roman senate granting citizenship to placate German Barbarians at Rome's gates... I especially appreciated this very true insightful comment of where europe and the U.S.A stands currently: "Rome used to be almost undefeatable on the battlefield, they weren't only stronger by military tactics but also by logistics to support numerous armies. So, why the heck were they invaded so easily at the end? Where were the armies of rome to completely obliterate the invading enemy? The answer is simple, rome has been weakened throughout centuries by multiculturalism caused by their own expansion into foreign territories. Multiculturalism in a single nation is bad, there're more than enough examples in history that show that. I'll make it quick... What makes a nation rise? Is it business? No! It's the individuals' ambition of survival! But what makes a nation stand the time? Is it business then? Yes, but not specially! It's actually patriotism! A nation can only stand the test of time if its citizens are patriotic, if they are willing to make sacrifices to defend their nation in times of need, in times that otherwise the nation would simply fall in the hands of stronger rivals. Patriotism is what makes the difference between nations that simply fall apart when faced with a major problem and nations that overcome these problems and stand the test of time. When you see a nation that no longer has patriotism, you can start the clock's timer and wait for the collapse, because they will collapse at the moment they face a major problem, such as a military invasion, an economic crisis etc... A nation, at the end of the day, is kept by faith, it's a game of believing, the people believe that their nation is a nation, they believe their laws and way of life are correct, therefore, must be protected and preserved, and this generates patriotism, the will to preserve and, if necessary, defend it all. In the end, rome was no longer patriotic, they had so many foreigners in the empire, so many different cultures that didn't care about the roman ways, the people of rome lost their identity, what does it mean to be roman when you are surrounded by foreigners who aren't like romans, though they own roman citizenship, some don't even speak latin. How can anyone be patriotic in a situation like this?"
