The 29-year-old man who allegedly crashed his car into a Wayne gas station Tuesday while high, killing three people, had previously lost his license after being arrested on charges he drove recklessly while under the influence and has a history of drug addiction. Jason Vanderee, of the Glenwood section of Vernon Township, is accused of slamming into three cars at the Delta gas station on Route 23 at an excessive speed, killing a father and son sitting in their car as well as a gas station attendant. He remains in custody pending a hearing, the Passaic County Prosecutors Office said Wednesday morning.
Vanderee crashed into a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro occupied by Jon Warbeck, 50, of Fair Lawn and his son, a 17-year-old passenger identified only as L.W., of Lincoln Park, killing both. The collision also killed Lovedeep Fatra, 22, of Pequannock. All three were pronounced dead at the scene. Others in a Ford Transit Van and a Nissan Rogue

"...crashing while high..."
This idiot lives in my town. Was probably coming home after scoring in Paterson. Could not wait. 4 lives wasted. Maybe he can get clean in jail but it never takes.
they do not want to play God. IF he ever drives again...
This guy could be my cousin, the only child of well-to-do, religious conservative parents. A college degree and a whole future of opportunity ahead of him if he could just stay away from the junk.
I keep waiting for that phone call from my uncle.
He’ll dig it in the big house.
He should be executed. Zero excuse for this, and far from his first offense.
"...This guy could be my cousin..."
There was a story on local Boston news the other day about driving while high.It said that the conviction rate on such charges in Massachusetts is very low...can’t recall if they mentioned a specific figure.
I don't think he was saying it might be his cousin. Instead, I think he was saying he has a cousin who has similar problems.
The article makes me want to vomit.
He was such a good guy.
He had been clean.
Nobody knows what happened that could have caused this.
All the usual crap and three people are dead because of this deadbeat.
It looks like they never knew what hit them.
The cops here in NJ are looking for ways to test people beyond straight-up breathalyzers for alcohol; as I’m sure they are elsewhere, drugs have become a serious problem here - and laws AND technology have to catch up.
Does NJ still prohibit pumping your own gas?
NJ is also pushing weed and touts “victimless crimes” of personal drug use. The state is absolutely insane.
Yes, and as a NJ resident, and I can assure you that the majority of NJ drivers are too stupid to pump their own gas.
Sitting in a car while others pump gas is the ONLY time NJ people aren’t exposed to chemicals. As the whole state is one giant toxic waste facility.
only 1 after OR changed law.
I put a lot of the blame on the system that allowed him to continue driving after so many offenses — they gambled with the lives of every driver on the streets.
And where did he get the drugs, and from whom? The drugs most likely came from Mexico, or from China via Mexico.
