The deaths of Dennis and Rhogena Tuttle as part of a disastrous no-knock warrant has brought on one major policy shift at the Houston Police Department. "I'm 99.9 percent sure I'm not going to be using it," Chief Art Acevedo said. "If there's a specific case, it would have to come through my office." The chief made the announcement during a loud community town hall Monday night, pointing out the reasoning behind no-knock raids, to prevent suspects from flushing drugs down the toilet, just doesn't make sense. "If the amount of dope somebody has is so little, someone is going to flush it, you don't have much of a case to start with," Acevedo said. "And if they're so dangerous, why not wait until they come out of the house?"...Acevedo also says he wants to increase the use of bodycams among undercover officers, though that is policy that's been in development for several months.

Good. There may be rare cases where no-knock is required but like the chief said it should require special approval from the top, and there should be clear and convincing rationale for using it.
That is an interesting idea.
Tuttle's wife had spirit.
She went for the shotgun to try to stop the murdering home invaders.
Harden your entrance doors. I'm thinking of a swing-down piece of 3/4" ply when you've locked her down for the night.
So... have you guys taken any time to reconsider your previous positions on this deal?
What position are you referring to?
“are to ONLY come from the offending departments or organizations pension fund”
Brilliant.
Also eliminate officer’s civil immunity. Yeah, that little “mistake” is going to cost you your home and all assets.
Need a lawyer? The union can pay for it.
Your position on the raid in Houston in which two people and a dog were killed by the cops.
The Tuttle’s had no idea it was HPD.
Now they are dead.
Where are the prosecutions?
Acevedo is a product of Austin. Liberal.
Kim Ogg, the DA is a Soros plant.
We will see.
I’m surprised that you have no recollection of it; you were actually very emphatic in your unrelenting defense of the cops and your attacks against anyone who wanted to get to the bottom of it.
Please cite.
Houston law enforcement, again. Look up their lesbian female chief from a while ago.
All leftists.
A lot more than just 3 people have lost their lives in poorly-executed no-knock raids.
Contact the office of the attorney general, Ken Paxton. Tell them we need an independent investigation. We in Texas must keep the pressure on. Acevados statements about no knock warrants were devestating but still not enough. We need to pass legislation banning them entirely.
Police-state style assault forces being used to violently enter a persons residence when that person is not actively engaged in violent acts are incompatible with life in a free society.
As it is better a hundred guilty go free than one innocent person be imprisoned. So too is it better a hundred guilty destroy evidence of their guilt than one innocent persons life be risked or worse ended by an extremely violent breach of the peace initiated by agents of the State.
Absolute and qualified immunity need to be revisited and adjusted to repair this. They are indeed personally financially liable if it is incompetence.
You really want us to go through all your posts in the Drug Dealer Ambush or Defense Against Home Invasion? thread and throw them back in your face? OK, here's a start:
#56 "Also neighbors referred to it as the drug house" (which neighbors, by the way? can YOU cite your source for that?)
#86 "Reclusive drug dealers!"
#93 "Documented buys during the investigation."
And so on through the thread, but you get the idea.
If all you have today is to play dumb, that's your choice. I'm not surprised.
I want to know what the cop had against the people he had taken out. He planned this. It was a planned murder. How many other times has he done this?
Perhaps he just got his rocks off by killing things. Maybe the victims were at the wrong place at the wrong time. At any rate, they are dead and will remain that way for a long time.
