My apologies if you’re offended by my comments. I know that there are many blacks on FR; many more than the popular news media would have you believe. However, Racist? The qualifier “Most”, by definition, means not all and, offensive or not, it happens to be true. Try asking some of your friends, “Where is Zimbabwe on the African continent?” or, “Where is Lesotho?” Try, “On what continent is Egypt located?” You’ll find most Americans of all races don’t have a clue.
You obviously assumed that I have to be white. Furthermore, you apparently believe - erroneously, I might add - that horrendous inner-city school systems and the Great Society program to which MOST American blacks have fallen victim gives African-Americans a better education in history and geography than the rest of Americans, which is demonstrably untrue. ALL Americans have a horrible understanding of geography AND history and African-Americans are no exception. Lara Logan, who is from South Africa, is just as “African” as was Nelson Mandela, as are the Jews, Indians and Anglos whose families settled in Africa hundreds of years ago.
Having traveled to Africa several times on military deployments and having trained members of the military of several African nations, I have a very good understanding of how most (there’s that word again) American blacks perceive Africans, which is similar to how New Yorkers perceive Texans. Likewise, the black Africans that I’ve worked with - to a person - think American blacks don’t know what real racism is.
Allow me to close with something a very good friend of mine, Zindoga, an officer in the Zimbabwean Army once told me, “Who do Americans think operated the slave trading camps on the coast of Africa? Do they really believe that the Dutch and British slave traders went into the interior to capture slaves?” Ask yourself, do you know the answer to those questions?
Thank You again my friend. Perfectly said.
Classic.
You're taking no responsibility whatsoever for slandering a whole race of people, and if I'm offended by your hateful words, it's my fault.
And spare me the convoluted clarification. That was even more insulting than your first post.
...offensive or not, it happens to be true.
It's offensive because it isn't true. Not even close. I don't know a single black person who can't find Africa on a map. You're advancing a racist narrative here, and I find that despicable.
