BERLIN - The Trump administration is launching a global campaign to end the criminalization of homosexuality in dozens of nations where it's still illegal to be gay, U.S. officials tell NBC News, a bid aimed in part at denouncing Iran over its human rights record.
U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell, the highest-profile openly gay person in the Trump administration, is leading the effort, which kicks off Tuesday evening in Berlin. The U.S. embassy is flying in LGBT activists from across Europe for a strategy dinner to plan to push for decriminalization in places that still outlaw homosexuality - mostly concentrated in the Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean.
It is concerning that, in the 21st century, some 70 countries continue to have laws that criminalize LGBTI status or conduct, said a U.S. official involved in organizing the event.
Grenell, known for his hawkish views on national security, is also currently under consideration to be Trumps ambassador to the U.N., three U.S. officials tell NBC News, after Trumps previous pick for the job, Heather Nauert, withdrew from consideration over the weekend. Grenell once served as spokesman for the U.S. ambassador to the U.N. when that role was inhabited by John Bolton, who is now Trumps national security adviser.

Very Creepy.
It kind of put’s the chill on the idea of Trump being ordained by God.
A bit queer...
Some things, like anal sex between two men, just transcend all other beliefs.
Barbaric public executions are all too common in a country where consensual homosexual relationships are criminalized and punishable by flogging and death.
I think the issue is the punishment.
But libs and homos and fake news will see something different.
ISIS and Muslims throw gay men off buildings - we have NEVER done that...
apparently, homosexual conduct has been legalized in one little country (Vatican City State)
we can look there to see how legalization is working out...
This was the Obama policy, and it is cultural imperialism.
“LGBTI”? they’ve added a new one? “I”? what is the “I” for? Insane?
The countries that punish sodomy by flogging and death are closer to being right than the countries that celebrate sodomites pretending to marry each other.
Homosexual sodomy has been legalized (even institutionalized) in one big country (United States of America) ... we can look there to see how legalization is working out.
“It kind of puts the chill on the idea of Trump being ordained by God.”
Yup.
Virtue signaling. Sucks.
I think this a positive thing. Why arrest someone for their sex preferences? Its one thing to not support it, it’s another to spend precious jail and court time prosecuting consenting adults.
There’s a wide gulf between criminalizing homosexuality and embracing every facet of the LGBT agenda. Unfortunately, it seems as though giving an inch quickly snowballs into Obergefell, transgender bathrooms and LGBT agitprop as part of grade school curriculum.
good point, too
Of all issues why this?
Homosexuality or Same Sex Attraction is not in itself a sin against God. Acting on or behaving in homosexual activity is the sinful part. We are called to love the sinner and hate the sin. Therefore it doesn’t seem creepy to me. Many of these so called homosexuals or those with same sex attraction are simply being called to embrace the single-life. The culture of death we have continuously signals incompleteness without some form of genital involvement with another person. The culture and our adherence to it is the real problem.
Well.... Trump will score points with Drudge.
