I nearly have, in person. It was 10 days in the hospital not knowing for the first 5 if the baby would survive. Hardest thing ever. If memory serves neisseria meningitidis presented approximately three days following a DTAP vaccination. Coincidence? Tainted vaccine? Weakened immune system? Hard to say. But the timing is suspect. Immensely suspect. And with so many parents having experienced this same event first hand themselves, having lived through the suffering or impairment or death of their own children, try not to be hard on those faced with trust issues today. There is legitimate justification for concern even if you haven't witnessed it yourself.

I didnt see a baby die of meningitis, but a friend lost her one month old baby girl to it when I was a few months pregnant. As a result, I was terrified every time my son fell illwhich seemed to happen every few weeks.
When he was a year old, I took him in for vaccination, and he was screaming his lungs out. I tried to calm him by telling him that the needle was so small, he would not feel a thing. Then the technician said he was getting two needles. It sure would have been nice to have more combo shots back then!
