You must be getting slammed hard by fees if you hardly keep any money in it. You may not even realize it. Also it is best to close it before it gets hacked.
I almost made headlines 15 years ago as a Chase customer. This is a thumbnail sketch of the end to my relations with Chase... SOP for my Chase bank at the corner near my house:
!. Deposit Check from Customer
2. 4 or 5 days later the wife wrote checks paying bills etc...
3.Chase would Bounce all the checks... $35 each and an adittional $35 for returned check fee.
4. Clear the previously deposited check.
5. take all their fees out of the deposited check first, then deposit what was left into my account.
They did this numerous times and I finally went balistic!! I went down there and raised hell with the manager and told everyone in that bank to close their accounts and move on!! 2 people spoke right up and said they were there for the same reasons!!
I closed my account for good, and a month or so later I get a call from their corporate office asking me to come back. and after I vented about why I would never come back they told me the manager at the branch has been terminated... but it was too late for me!! That is one institution I would like to see go down the tubes in the worst way!! Fk that Bank!!

I am having problems with them myself right now. They have decided that my money is actually their money. They have decided to protect my money from ME. I have had enough of their arrogance and done with them. So I believe this...
Because political affiliation is not protected (excepting in Washington DC).
That said, Veteran status IS protected. I suggest he sue claiming they closed his accounts based on being a veteran.
They’ll have to defend and say “no we closed it based on politics.”

They are and have been for years. Even back in the days of the early internet there was a site dedicated to exposing their stupidity. I had a teller say to me once in front of other customers that I never had much money in my account. This pissed off vet about got arrested that day. Even in this day, I like paying my bills with cash. There is a reason for that, lol. You ever try to get a large sum of money (yours) from a banker, lol. Pffft.

Do your homework, A friend at a local bank chased me down for several months wanting me to sit with her financial advisor at the branch knowing I was about to retire. We met, he has no affiliation with the bank, the bank has no responsibility to protect any of your investments made by this person yet he is there soliciting bank customers. Further investigation found bad reviews with the financial house he is affiliated with and high transaction fees and other misc fees you wont find out about until your in. Not one good review! The baker was a heterosexual and White, which are not only an unprotected classes, but the White ones are currently being phrased out [scheduled for extinction] on down the road. To be replaced by others.
If the baker had been a homosexual, his penalty would have been not as harsh, if at all.
